Colin Powell, less politically correct than Donald Trump.

Colin Powell said: "I would rather not have to vote for her, although she is a friend I respect... A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still dicking bimbos at home."

Donald Trump, last January: "I refuse to call Megyn Kelly a bimbo, because that would not be politically correct. Instead I will only call her a lightweight reporter!"

Megyn Kelly brags that Trump tried to seduce her. She is a Master Bimbo, and no one better forget it.

During the Hillary Email controversy at State, my liberal Facebook friends would constantly inform me that Colin Powell did it too. And because he worked under Bush, this made all Republicans guilty. I used to bother to defend him, pointing out, quite rightly, that he never owned his own server.

Now I don't bother to defend him anymore and they don't use him as a foil. I wonder what changed.

I refuse to call Hillary a traitorous, scum sucking piece of trash running a criminal enterprise.

Instead I'll just call her a Democrat.

Oh yeah, Powell, much better.

Powell's reference to Clinton's unbridled ambition called to mind Kramer's synopsis of a manuscript in the Seinfeld episode "The Doodle":

Elaine: Did you read the whole thing?

Kramer: Oh! yeah.

Elaine: Huh . So What's it about?

Kramer: Well it's a story about love, deception, greed, lust and...unbridled enthusiasm.

Elaine: unbridled enthusiasm...?

Kramer: Well , that's what led to Billy Mumphrey's downfall.

Elaine: Oh! boy.

Kramer: You see Elaine, Billy was a simple country boy. You might say a cockeyed optimist,
who got himself mixed up in the high stakes game of world diplomacy and international intrigue.

Elaine: Oh! my God.

In the corporate world we say, "Never put anything in an email you wouldn't want published on the front page" and similar sentiments ("...you wouldn't want your mother to read" and "...you wouldn't want made public" are common variants I've heard). I guess government workers (and retirees) aren't smart enough to follow those guidelines.

I admire Colin Powell for being politically incorrect, even if in the so-called privacy of his emails. Now, if he would just say it publicly - that would be one small step to cleaning up the double-speak cesspool that exists among Our Betters.

I've never imagined generals to have small egos, but it is remarkable how full of himself Powell comes off in these.

Also kind of a nasty piece of work. Dick Cheney and daughter are idiots? It's almost as if Powell dislikes Cheney enough to leave him and his subordinate twisting in the wind over a leak that he knew all along came from his right-hand man.

I used to call BS on Hillary hacks saying "Powell did it too!" (as eric points out, Powell never maintained his own server). But I can't help wondering what Powell meant by "I got around all that by...." in his advice to Hillary about private e-mail, which he is very peeved indeed that HRC et al. would bring up.

Powell's kind of a dick. And his minion Dick allowed Scooter Libby to get jammed up for something Dick did.

That said, I think Powell understood how to use his personal email for personal and political matters and his official email (or cables?) for official things. And of course email systems came evolved quite a bit between their respective tenors - at State, at the behest of Powell who recognized what a mess the system was and worked to have it upgraded.

I agreed with most of what Powell said, about everyone. I don't think it is dissonant to say he respects Clinton and then list all her electoral liabilities. I would guess Clinton is a formidable force in the halls of power, which he respects since that is also his profession. That doesn't mean she does not have problems as a politician facing an election.

I think this shows he's politically correct.

In half-hearted defense of Gen. Powell, I don't think he meant "bimbos" as a criticism of the women who satisfy Mr. Clinton's appetites; I think he meant to suggest that Mr. Clinton is indifferent to any intelligence his short-term sexual partners may possess, and therefore "dicking bimbos" is an apt description of Mr. Clinton's moral conduct. Gen. Powell may be right about Mr. Clinton's indifference (I know of no reason to believe otherwise, but I don't pay much attention to the issue so perhaps he's wrong). But the law of averages says some of those women are very probably of above-average intelligence, and I agree with the Professor that Gen. Powell's statement referring to them collectively as "bimbos" on its face presumes they are all of low intelligence and therefore indulges an offensive stereotype concerning the intelligence of women who make themselves sexually available to married politicians. Gen. Powell could have used a more accurate term from that point of view, although it would likely have been a more vulgar one.

Mr. Trump was not characterizing a man's conduct toward multiple unidentified women; he was directly characterizing a particular individual woman. Mr. Trump using "bimbo" in that context would have been, in my opinion, significantly more offensive than Gen. Powell's remark. In fact, I think Mr. Trump's indirect usage (i.e., his suggestion that the characterization would be true but political correctness restrained him from saying so) is more offensive than Powell's usage.

@Mike: "I guess government workers (and retirees) aren't smart enough to follow those guidelines." They aren't "government workers," they are politicians and big shots. They think the rules don't apply to them, they think they can get away with blatant violations, and they are right.

Touche Sebastian. I was indeed picturing politicians when I slandered the workers instead. My mistake. I should have known, as I do recall that the despicable Lois Lerner at least learned enough to know that the real juicy stuff had to go through a chat app to other IRS workers because those were not archived like email. In the end Koskinen burned the email archives and it didn't matter, but I did retain the memory of that workaround. Like a flatworm, a bureaucrat will learn to avoid pain, but politicians are unredeemable.

The Colin Powell quote cited by the OP omits a material qualification.

“A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still d–kng bimbos at home."

But this wasn't from his personal knowledge. It was only offered FWIW "(according to the NY Post}."

So, the full quote should read:

“A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still d–kng bimbos at home (according to the NYP),”

http://nypost.com/2016/09/14/colin-powell-wont-vote-for-her-because-of-bill-clinton/

Strangely, the latest Post story also truncates the original quote.

It seems the only reliable source of news these days is the National Inquirer.

Powell thought it was a private exchange. I'm sure the rat-pack devotee with the orange tan uses "bimbo" in private, (especially if he can raise a son who uses "gas chamber" in public).

Yeah, except that this was a private e-mail. We all say impolitic things in private. Trump's was a public declaration, designed to humiliate someone who'd had the temerity to challenge him.

Thank God for the Russians (ha! ha! ha!). Days would be so boring without them.

Personally I think the Russians made the video that caused the Benghazi implosion; and the Russians made Obama give away the store to the Iranians in the nuclear deal; and the Russians arranged the Brexit vote; and the Russians caused the Panthers to lose the Super Bowl; and the Russians tore up Jordy Nelson's knee; and the Russians are the reason the Red Sox finished dead last a year ago; and the Russians tore Teddy Bridgewater's knee apart; and the Russians fixed the NBA Championship so Cleveland would win; and the Russians deflated the footballs in that long forgotten AFC playoff; and the Russians have mind-melded with Roger Goodell; and the Russians are causing the confusion over what bathroom to use and the Russians .....; and the Russians..... ( fade to black).

FWIW I know ex-military types that served in the Pentagon during Powell's time.

Consensus is he's a dick.

Oh yeah, "...his minion Dick allowed Scooter Libby to get jammed up for something Dick did."

Worse than that, Powell was fully aware that Dick A. was the culprit and still let Libby twist in the wind.

My conclusion is General Powell is a man of little honor.

I'm curious what Powell thinks about the leak. He's a bit of a hero for sticking it to the Clintons, but he's also a rude, crude backstabber. Combined with our knowledge of what he did to Scooter Libby (as many have already mentioned), he comes off as one of DC's biggest assholes. Does he take credit for his chutzpah, or is he now a pariah?

I'm trying to create a list of the best words or phrases to come out of the 2016 campaign, and Colin Powell has just taken the top three of the top six spots.

1) Dicking Bimbos - Colin Powell
2) Dicking Bimbos - Colin Powell
3) Dicking Bimbos - Colin Powell
4) Basket of Deporables - Hillary Clinton
5) Only Rosie O'Donnell - Donald Trump
6) And he referred to my hands – if they're small, something else must be small. I guarantee you there's no problem. I guarantee. - Donald Trump

I can't overstate how much I love that Colin Powell of all people--Mr. Prim and Proper longtime military man and veteran of several administrations--used the term "dicking bimbos" (and used it aptly I might add). My only quibble is that he used it in a private e-mail and not in an Ivy League commencement address, which would have been such perfection we could turn off the news for five years in honor of such a moment.

How can he honestly RESPECT somebody who remains married to a man who dicks bimbos around the house? It doesn't show much respect for herself.

I'd love to see Trump win the WH and launch prosecutions of Hillary AND Colin Powell's email usage.

Might be time to end the right to privacy for government workers. What they do impacts millions upon millions and they've shown that they cannot be trusted to not violate the law.

Don't like it? Find honest work, then.

Powell thought it was a private exchange. I'm sure the rat-pack devotee with the orange tan uses "bimbo" in private, (especially if he can raise a son who uses "gas chamber" in public).

One did it in reality. Assumptions of what others did are immaterial in comparison.

He was an affirmative action general (he's admitted as such). He's pissy that conservatives want to treat people equally.

He'll be quoted in hip hop songs for years to come.
