At the 3 Cranes Café...

P1150275

... you can talk about whatever you want.

(See the baby! We got a long, close look at this crane family as we were out biking the Capital City Trail yesterday. Today, it's 37°. It looks like a beautiful spring day from my window, but I'll need to put on my winter coat to venture out. )

I've been thinking that with the "bathroom issue," we have not been talking about the economy or his foreign policy successes, have we?

Yesterday it was shorts and T-shirt weather. Tonight it's supposed to snow.

I have my disagreements with you Althouse, but I have to give you mad props on your dedication. There are days I can't bring myself to read and comment, yet you show up with new articles and posts every day.

It's mating season and these SOB's are loud! I wonder if they're hearing impaired.

I get so confused about the proper use of the word "transgender."

Is Bruce Jenner a transgender man or transgender woman?

Is Caitlyn Jenner a transgender man or transgender woman?

Why do we have to learn this?

I actually met a transgender person who went from female to male. He had played high school basketball as a woman with a female friend of mine. The trans did not start. I asked my female friend about the jump shot of the trans. Not good regardless of sex. The interesting thing to me is that even after the transition the trans still had the handwriting of a female. Very nice and feminine. I guess drugs and surgery can't change everything. As I think about it now, maybe DOJ can base sex on handwriting samples. Just as good as anything at this point.

Or it is just about stirring the pot and distracting attention from more serious matters.

It has also struck me that up to now, transgenders and just cross-dressers have probably just quietly gone to whatever restrooms and locker rooms they were dressed for without anyone noticing, but from now on, anyone looking a bit "butch" in the women's facilities, or kind of feminine in the men's, are going to be followed with suspicious eyes and be subject to unwelcome comments.
This was "help" they did not need for the genuine transgenders, and are going to also cause a lot of grief to people who just have the misfortune to look a little like they might be, at least in some people's fevered imaginations.

The point is to criss-cross the country with rules. Bakers' cakes was not enough.

Dogs take gender in at a glance and don't much worry about it unless somebody's in heat.

I think it was Voltaire who wrote that he could deal with his enemies, but prayed to the Lord to protect him from his friends.

Harding said the same thing shortly before he died of a heart attack.

I think it is largely distraction form the disaster that is Obama and his regime.

The political left, some of whom are related to me, are clueless about the culture. Most are not parents. I wonder how those with children can handle this and not go nuts.

The last few years I have watched a nesting pair of sandhill cranes near my house. Three years and two years ago the chick made it to adulthood. Last year the chick disappeared when it was about half grown. It was sad to see the parents alone in the field.

The laws of nature are cruelly neutral in matters of life and death.

Eighth Circuit, 1982, "Although this circuit has not previously considered the issue raised on this appeal, we are in agreement with the district court that for the purposes of Title VII the plain meaning must be ascribed to the term "sex" in absence of clear congressional intent to do otherwise. Furthermore, the legislative history does not show any intention to include transsexualism in Title VII. "
