The new Hillary catchphrase: "Love trumps hate."

"The lovey-dovey message seems surprising coming from a Washington veteran so battle-hardened that she often cites Eleanor Roosevelt's mantra about women in public life needing 'skin like a rhinoceros.'"
But as she grapples with Donald Trump's prominence in the Republican race, she's embraced a little love and kindness as a near-constant refrain.... Today, Clinton rarely ends her remarks without asking her audience to consider adding some "love and kindness" to their daily lives...

"That sort of language very much tracks with what a lot of women voters say," said Democratic pollster Margie Omero, who helps oversee research of female swing voters who shop at Wal-Mart. "They say, 'Let's go back to a time in which we're being nicer to each other. Politics has become too coarse.' "
Look over yonder what do you see/The sun is a-risin' most definitely/A new day is comin' people are changin'/Ain't it beautiful crystal blue persuasion/Better get ready gonna see the light/Love, love is the answer and that's all right....

Yeah, 'cause when I think of Hillary, "love" is the first thing that comes to mind.

The only thing that Hillary loves is power. She'd sell her soul down at the crossroads if she thought it would get her more power. Lying, cheating, stealing, above the law and the little people, she rides on her imperial broom. The Wicked Witch of the West has nothing on Hillary. And that's what I think about her on her "good" days. Give me a minute and I'll come right out and say what I really think.

Put a little love and kindness in your day? Whoo hah, that's rich coming from Hillary.

I believe Hillary wants to inject more love into the campaign. Just as she went out of her way to lovingly thank Juanita Broaddrick for all she had done for Bill:

You had questioned the gentleman who drove you and Mr.
Clinton from the airport. You asked him about me and if I would be at the gathering. Do you remember? You told the driver, "Bill has talked so much about Juanita", and that you were so anxious to meet me. Well, you wasted no time. As soon as you entered the room, you came directly to me and grabbed my hand Do you remember how you thanked me, saying "we want to thank you for everything that you do for Bill". At that point, I was pretty shaken and started to walk off. Remember how you kept a tight grip on my hand and drew closer to me? You repeated your statement, but this time with a coldness and look that I have seen many times on television in the last eight years. You said, "Everything you do for Bill". You then released your grip and I said nothing and left the gathering.

What did you mean, Hillary? Were you referring to my keeping quiet about the assault I had suffered at the hands of your husband only two weeks before? Were you warning me to continue to keep quiet?

I think she's saying "Love Trump's hate."

The Trump media vortex gives her a respite from the Sanders eddy.

It's just weird, this new posturing. Almost as weird as the "All You Need is Love" soundtrack to the final episode of "The Prisoner."

This was certainly a keystone of Bill Clinton's Presidency. Bill Clinton loves love.

Well she says she hates Republicans so I suppose she's going herself to be trumped. Or Trumped.

"seems surprising" Huh? Hillary! will say and do anything. Going after the women's vote is her ticket to the White House. Expect more yuck.

The only "love" I think of when it comes to Hillary!!! falls into the category of -Crimes Against Nature- variety.

I'm a big fan of "love and kindness."

Kind of a phony sentiment, though, coming in the midst of a political campaign, lead by a savvy woman, who's been seeking to acquire power all her life

I liked the "Human Rights Are Gay Rights and Gay Rights are Human Rights" ad better. Being a bugchaser is a basic human right, and the selflessness of "gift-giving" is a loving act that trumps hate. Everybody should have the right to contract H.I.V.

Slightly OT but chickelit left a very funny comment at the end of dead thread yesterday that deserves a repost:

If Trump wins the WH, Bill will attend the Inauguration but Hillary won't.

"They say, 'Let's go back to a time in which we're being nicer to each other. Politics has become too coarse.' "

Naturally Hillary responds by claiming her opponents are full of hate as if that weren't the very coarseness people object to.

BTW, Hillary has to be the most poll-driven politician in history. If Gallup said her best strategy was to sacrifice Chelsea to the Aztec gods she would be right at the top of the temple with an obsidian knife.

Hillary loves lying. She loves power. She loves money. She loves big government.

Anyway, to the left disagreement on some policy issue is always the equivalent of hate. Fucktards.

"Love trumps hate."

Ha. I was trying to imagine a scenario in which Bill had to say that to Hillary!. The image that kept coming up was Hillary! screaming she hates him, while about to bash him for the latest bimbo eruption, and Bill trying to fend it off by shouting: "Hill, baby, don't you know that Love Trumps Hate!!"

In my imagined scene, it didn't do Bill a bit of good, and it probably won't help Hillary! either.

Real American said...

Someone should ask Hillary if politics were too "coarse" when she was accusing Republicans of conspiring to make Monica Lewinsky blow her husband in the Oval Office.

It depends on what voters are looking for from a commander in chief.

"What's Love Got to Do With It?"

It may seem to you that I'm acting confused
When you're close to me
If I tend to look dazed I've read it someplace
I've got cause to be
There's a name for it
There's a phrase that fits

Yea, it's called closed head injury.

Trouble with the catchphrase is that no one associates Hillary with love. Also, at least for now, even Trump himself trumps hate.

I've just been raiding about the domestic life of the Roosevelts. Eleanor needed a far thicker skin to survive her private life. FDR died in the company of the woman with whom he had had a passionate love affair as a young man. This affair had nearly caused the break up of his marriage. What added a further twist of the knife to this betrayal was the the fact that Eleanor's favorite child, Anna, had arranged the meetings between FDR and Lucy Mercer......I don't think Westbrook Pegler or Thomas Dewey ever caused her such consternation and hurt.

mikee said...

I note that Eleanor Roosevelt carried a large revolver in her purse when traveling.

Hillary carries only her empty, vacuous need to win.

Hillary will win the presidency, and with it will do more harm to more people than she ever dreamed possible. Still, it won't make up for Bill's adultery over the past many decades. Maybe, just maybe, if ISIS or Pakistan manages to explode a nuke in a US city while she is president, she'll be satisfied at her revenge on the United States. But that is what it will take to make her happy.

No, in fact, bullets trump hate. Every instance of hate that leads to violence (and really, are t those the only instances that matter) has to be met with force, or the violence continues.
Hollywood has all of these anti gun nut jobs, but when they play characters in movies who have to deal with someone who might be threatening violence their characters ALWAYS RESORT TO VIOLENCE THEMSELVES. because, there is no other way to deal with the threats. If they made movies where one group was threatening violence and the other side met it with pacifism and was successful the audience would reject the movie because it would be deemed completely u realistic. Or it would be a children's movie where you are teaching simplistic ideas to kids and can actually get away with shielding them from the impact of violence.
Which makes me think that those simps in Hollywood pushing the ban guns agenda might be taking their children's movies to heart a bit too much. They are movies, in case they don't realize.
Either that or they are complete hypocrites. Or both.
Love did not trump hate when it came to ghandi, or MLK, or john Lennon or Jesus. It's certainly a good mantra. We should love one another rare than hate one another. But it's not a policy.

Subtle irony.

To say, "the choice is between Love and Hate" is to say that the opposition is hateful. That's not exactly a message of love.

Hate in females tends to be more beautiful than lovable. If a girl is sexualizing her hate, then she needs to be extra cool for that to be lovable. If a catsy girl is not hating, then she doesn't have to be nearly as cool for sex to be appropriate, and so it's likely going to be much easier for good males to love her sexiness really well. And it's really bad to love a girl because she hates, because that is like encouraging her to kill things, which is like forcing her to kill things, which is evil. It's exceedingly better for girls to hate from the sexual pleasure of hating (as indicating she can hate, which is sexually pleasant for her as tending to indicate she is not under influence of nefarious love potions such as sodomy), than from love, notwithstanding the love she feels makes the hate pleasant. (If a girl isn't feeling any real or fake love for anybody, there's not much reason for her to think her loving centers have been compromised by love potion or for her to want to test that by seeing whether she can still hate the hateworthy.)

A consequence of society having a high age of consent is that it encourages catsy sexualized hatred in girls. Girls probably sense that having sex with one person while hating someone else is the sort of sex that to be good and fun requires much coolness, which tends to arise from having for a good while thought and fantasized about it, or it is not likely to be sacred or something that a desired male would accept sufficiently lovingly. When girls are forced to wait an excessive time for sex, they presumably will more tend to choose a type of sex, like sex associated with hatred, that is better and more sacred if it's already been lazily thought and fantasized about a fair while. If what society allows girls is lemons, they will tend to seek to make lemonade out of them.

Part of not being bad when dealing with catsy girls is to emotionally find their sexiness really beautiful when they aren't feeling hate--of letting them really truly know that they don't have to be hateful to be loved, which is harder to do when there are laws against having sex with girls when they are young, and when making girls know such things is in practice almost beyond reckless given societal cluelessness. So the good male just has to sort of fantasize about a better world to more fill himself with the right emotions--another sort of making lemonade out of lemons, of choosing the best option available when the best option is not available. On other hand, an optimistic way of looking at things is that if the age of consent is high, it's a pretty clear sign that society is clueless and indiscriminate about what screws people up, or they would find more refined less harmful ways of protecting girls, and those are the types of societies where catsiness is best, catsiness being an anti-sodomy defense (many of whose effects are in the distant future depending on the distant past).

I don't offhand have a reason to think what I have said has anything to do with Mrs. Clinton in particular, but whatever, one must seek to gradually increase the understanding of the principles involved, or one won't leave the world with as good cat lore as one could have, the important thing, mostly, rather than the particulars of how catsiness relates to the present beyond the effect an understanding of the particulars has on long-term future understanding and long-term future production of cat lore.

I wonder if public life was such a burden for Eleanor. In her private life, she was burdened with a bossy mother in law, an unfaithful husband, and children that she couldn't really connect with. Public life, not the home fires at Hyde Park, was where she went for asylum. It's true that her activities came in for some criticism, but she also received a lot of adulation. Perhaps the only uncriticical, unconditional love she received was from her adoring fans.......Same deal with Hillary. I don't think her private life with Bill Clinton is where she goes for emotional sustenance. Her life is inside out. The places in her heart are occupied by political operatives and people like Sidney Blumenthal and not by fluffy puppies and grandchildren.

Sammy Finkelman said...

This slogan is meaningless.

It is just that it worked well with a focus group.

It has no connection to Hillary Clinton or anything she says.

The explanation is: Donald Trump is supposed to be an avatar of hate, the word Trump is a pun and Love is the opposite of hate.

It is just a cute way of positioning herself against Donald Trump, without having to say anything about anything at all.

Sammy Finkelman said...

You notice Hillary talks about love (as an alternaive to Donald trump) but never says anythimh that anyone would describe as love.

Is that like the "love" that a president of the US uses when he (so far) enforces the unilateral will of the government to seize my property quarterly or it will seize even more on the threat of putting me in a cage? Every single action by the federal government has this as a backdrop - a tax collector holding a gun and a promise of prison if one does not comply. They smile and have lots and lots of EQ, but every single thing they do is backed by and based on this threat. If chicks fall for this love schtick in casting votes for these people, there is much to be concerned about. Don't fall for the seen and ignore the unseen, girls. It is a thoroughly violent institution, top to bottom.
