Oh! They came for the dogs! This is going to hurt.

First, they came for the WWII veterans.

Now, they've come for the dogs.
From Therapy Dogs To New Patients, Federal Shutdown Hits NIH.

[P]atients were told therapy dogs will no longer be able to come to visit them.

Take BO's dog from him then.

Obama doesn't want individual spending bills to fund the government piece-by-piece, he clearly stated it is the Congress' duty to fully fund the entire Federal government. Fine. But if they do, will Obama fulfill his duty to obey and enforce all Federal laws? Of course not. He has already broken the PPACA law itself by ignoring specific implementation dates (for which there were no delay provisions). Why fully fund a Federal government that refuses to fully obey the law? Wouldn't it be highly irresponsible of Congress to unquestioningly fund an administration with such a track record of malfeasance?

Obama and his minions are small, petty and mean spirited. Imagine the amount of enmity that Obama has for this country and those who don't buy his far left plans.

Goverment political battle results in Government choosing to alienate the most vulnerable.

So, if Government shuts down a couple years from now are they going to withhold health care?

That's the question that should be trumpeted by everyone.

That's the key issue at the heart of the obamacare debate, and that's being explicitly illustrated in the memorials, the parks, the dogs.

And as we've seen elsewhere, when bureaucracy is involved, no one has responsibility and thus fires are allowed to burn, people don't get helped, and the blame is shifted to the political opponents or not filling out the right paperwork.

We're seeing Obamacare's future. Barricades over even uninvolved matters.

So many government websites are down -- as if that's saving any money. I can hardly think they've actually unplugged the computers.

The Powers that Be in Washington DC are certainly stupendously petty.

Wait til they shut down the Voter ID checking at the polls.

What they don't do that anyway in mant places?

Nevermind!

And it's Obama's administration p.o.ing the plebes, by choice, and by choosing what to shut down.

During the shutdown we are going to learn about a number of well meaning but a little silly programs that are funded by the feds. The patient dogs are a good example of something which would be done on the local community level, but now has the feds involved.

Gov't by petulant babies.

And Weepy Boner...don't think we didn't see what was in your e-mails to the head pederast, Reid. You're next traitor.

Another dick move. Compassionate Harry Reid sees no reason to negotiate and will hold patients, at research hospitals, hostage to ideology. Funding kids with cancer...pfft, "Why would we do that?"

Pure spite. Just like government websites. Went to look up something at the census -- shut down. There’s no reason to shut down an existing, fully functional website. You don't pay hosting fees day-by-day.

Taxpayers are funding dogs visiting sick people?

Yes, they are. The PandaCam at the Washington Zoo is off. The actual pandas are, of course, still being cared for and fed. Actual human input to maintain the PandaCam link? Well, essentially zero. But let's take it away, because the public likes it, and the public really needs its nose to be rubbed in its own mess.

Pointlessly barricading open-air monuments on the National Mall against WWII veterans was lame. I see now that the National Park Service is shutting down hundreds of parks and campgrounds that are run by NPS tenants. That is, none of the staff are Federal employees at all; the organizations pay rent to the Federal government. In other words, they are making money for the Federal government. But we must make a government shutdown look as nasty as possible, so they must also be shut down. Bleh.

That is so. What we have here is a concerted effort to make a "government shutdown" look as nasty as possible by ostentatiously cutting off first the bits of Federal government that ordinary people might miss. Even when (as with the NPS tenants) there's no Federal spending actually in there.

I wonder if Obama and Reid realize that Continuing Resolutions are NOT how the government is to be funded.

There is a budget process that Reid has ignored for several years now.

The GOP shouldn't pass ANY CR's any longer. Reid should actually get a budget into conference.

Therapy Dog is a non-paying gig.

Obama is a spiteful ass.

Therapy dogs for hospitals/nursing homes involve ZERO hospital money, it is all volunteers. I paid to take a class and get certified for my dogs to be therapy dogs. no money or labor time is involved by the hospital. this cutoff of dog visits to sick kids shows the slimy heart of Comrade Urkel and his stooge Reid.
