"President Obama will nominate Sen. John Kerry to be Secretary of State..."

"... a democrat who spoke to the senator says."

Email just now from CNN (including the lower-case "d" on "democrat").

Funny how CHANGE seems to have all the same old long withered faces.

As Junior's his best bud, Lurch will slide through, but somebody on the right side of the aisle should draw and quarter him first.

Makes sense.
Chair or ranking member of Foreign Relations for 20 years, has a good record there. Has the "pacific century" focus that the leaders in the foreign policy community want - A Kerry appointment means drawing away from Europe/Russia as prime concern with Israel and neocon wars and the Iranians & Arabs as the focus of far too much time and attention.

And State is not Defense - where Kerry's past antics would resurrect the Swift Boaters and a substantial part of the veteran's community in strong opposition.

Susan Rice shredded her reputation lying for Obama over Benghazi and all the race card and gender card and spin stories the Obamites test ran to get Rice redeemed did not work.

Kerry was a better choice even before Rice made herself into a patsy.

When you really, really want to "Stick It To America", the French-looking Kerry, who incidentally served in VeetNam and has the hat to this day, is your Go-To Guy!

There is nothing remotely democratic about the Democrat Party.

Also, does nominating the French-looking, former junior senator from Massachussetts, who by the way served in Vietnam, mean that a seat will be open and Scott Brown could run again?

Considering the revolutionary war-era definition of "democrat", did CNN accuse Lurch of being in the same business as Slobbering Barney's boyfriend?

This will be very entertaining. Hilary has been a non-entity verging on disaster. Kerry won't be able to keep his nose out of anything.

Maybe he'll finally get to go to Cambodia for Christmas. He still has the hat!

It looks like Brown will run for the US Senate seat if they don't change the rules a third time. Although I still think Brown is better suited to run for governor, Howie Carr makes a good point about a special election.

Howie Carr:

I’m going to see U.S. Sen. Scott Brown tomorrow afternoon in Orleans. It was just supposed to be a book signing for both of us. Now maybe it’ll be the unofficial kickoff to the 2013 U.S. Senate race...

Assuming the Democrats don’t change the Senate succession law for the third time — granted, a big if — the election to replace Kerry will probably take place sometime in May or June. Can John Walsh and his pinky-ring union thugs reassemble their EBT coalition?

The next question is, who’s Brown running against? Last time out, the Democratic machine was able to muscle aside everyone for the fake Indian (and then raise her
$42 million). But now they won’t have a state convention with its 15 percent requirement for a candidate to get on the primary ballot.

This time, it’s every moonbat for himself. This time, it’ll be more like, gulp, democracy.

Deval Patrick? No, he’s about money. A Senate seat wouldn’t enable him to live in the style his adventures in steam control (as Tom Wolfe would say) at Coke and Texaco have accustomed him to.

Let’s go down the congressional list. Ed Markey’s wanted this seat since 1984, but he could never risk his safe seat, lest he lose and starve to death. One of his only jobs in the Dreaded Private Sector was driving an ice cream truck. Now Mr. Frosty will have a free shot.

Ditto, Mike Capuano. He’s morphed from an unrepentant Somerville hack into a twitchy, MoveOn mouth-breather. Remember his exhortations to his union thugs on the Common about spilling a little blood?

Then there’s Steve Lynch. What would have once been his electoral strengths are now a toxic stew of liabilities — Irish-Catholic, South Boston, heterosexual, former ironworker.

To more than half of today’s Democrats, Lynch is a walking hate crime.

Why do I keep thinking of Caligula making his horse consul? Hmmmm . . . . Kerrey, horse, horse, Kerrey, what's the connection?

Synova said...

Just so long as they don't make him secretary of defense, I don't care. No doubt he'll do a good job at being charming and following orders.

Well, Kerry certainly has experience negotiating with America's enemies.

Defense would have been a slap in the face. This is just more of the same leftist nonsense.

So they want 'Lurch' Kerry?

The rich guy who evaded taxes with his yacht, defamed Vietnam veterans yet campaigned on the very fact he WAS a Vietnam vet. The same one who faked out his injuries to get his medals, then faked out throwing them over a fence to prove he was anti-war.

Well at least after Hillary he won't have to work hard to improve on her record cause she does not have one.

SecStates don't matter. The last one that did was George Schultz. Don't even worry about it.

Simple. Kerry actually, really, has a chance of being confirmed, because the R's want to get to Scott Brown.

A disappointment as a soldier, a veteran, a Senator, and a Presidential candidate - the Peter Principle. At least he married well.

Synova has it right.

It's a GOP three-fer

1. it's not SECDEF
2. State doesn't actually do anything. POTUS makes diplomacy in the age of instant world wide commo
3. GOP gets a fair shot at a Senate seat

given the options, what's not to like?

You thought you were gonna get Lieberman?

bagoh20, he married rich. Well, to that I just can't say.

Well the first wife wasn't too happy either, but she was richer than he was...

I detect a trend, another Secretary of State that sleeps with women.

Well, at least Kerry -- no doubt the politician most despised by the US Military -- won't be Secretary of Defense.

I keep wondering about the morale of our armed forces after four years of Obama, in which he made pointless all the blood and treasure spent in Afghanistan and Iraq, and personally left four Americans behind to die in Benghazi.

Oh, I know our liberal trolls can justify anything Obama does with their usual self-righteousness and tu quoques. But their sneers don't have much substance nor will they cut much ice with those who put their lives on the line for America. We know that Obama has earned the contempt of 90+% of Navy SEALS.

There will be a long, terrible accounting for all of Obama's incompetence and arrogance, and the military he leaves behind will not be the least of those expenses.

However, even at State Kerry is still a problem, as well as Obama.

If things go south badly in Syria and Obama/Kerry decide our military must intervene, I wonder what sort of cooperation they'll get from the military, especially special forces.

Anonymous said...

Then again, maybe I'm mistaken.

Perhaps much of the top military command, like much of the Republican leadership, has been Beltwayed to the point that they identify with Washington insiderdom more than the groups they ostensibly represent.

New AP style for anonymous sources...? No proper name, no capitalization?

creeley, the top military commanders will do what they are told to do. Rules of engagement, which come from the top get a lot of our service people killed. The top military commanders and the civilian people in charge of this shit are never put in harms way. It's all political to make the administration appear that they care for the civilian population where are soldiers are told to fight. PR PC bullshit.

If Kerry is nominated and approved, he'll resign from the Senate. According to current Massachusetts law*, they'll hold an election to fill the vacancy. That'll make Elizabeth Warren the senior senator from Massachusetts.

*Democrats in Massachusetts like to change the law as it suits them. When there was a Republican governor, they favor elections to fill vacancies. When there's a Democrat governor, they favor letting the governor appoint a replacement.

So the empty suit with a radical past, who won the presidency is nominating the empty suit with a radical past who almost won.
