That is one beautiful picture.. simple, authentic, real.

I captured a magnificent pic this morning of the NY skyline in the rising sun from the Brooklyn bridge.

From the blog Roadkill Diaries today:

For math at or above the grade level, the goals are as follows:

While sculling today, I saw the bald eagle! The ranger had told me there was one at this lake, but I didn't believe him. I stopped, backed in (facing forward, to watch the eagle), and spent a long time watching it. We bonded. The eagle and I are one.

Very nice pic, Madame.

It looks very summery, but I see it was taken a week ago.

And thank you for making a place for us.

KY Liz, may your spirit soar with him.

The picture is sublime. I especially appreciate the garden pictures throughout the year. The onset of fall is evident here, though some late blooms of summer remain.

Outstanding photo, Ann! note also the recent Obama admin initiative to institute quotas on school discipline, such that blacks cannot be disciplined disproportionate to their population segment. this should really enhance the educational experience, no>?

I may have spoken too soon.

The TBS announcer sucks btw.

They say it in the UK

But around here, it's so ugly we can't look at it. And the last guy who had the temerity to try to stop the madness, Patrick Moynihan, was pilloried by his own team.

Nice picture you have there, Ann. The picture painted in that UK article might be a little bit uglier.

In an apparent attempt to counter the impact of Rosanne Barr's entry into the presidential race, Lindsay Lohan has endorsed Romney.

Considering the current state of affairs in Europe, I wonder...how much riot gear will the Nobel Peace Prize money buy?

john said...

With about 500 million people, that Peace Prize will get them about 2 cents each. Will they be paid in euros? Will it help Spain?

Intriguing photo. A mysterious lushness for so late in the year. And the way the sunlight falls on the bench...

Anyone watching Revolution? Anyone catch the pilot for Arrow?

I haven't been able to work myself up to watching any of Revolution because I'm so certain that I'll think they should have done it different. (Seriously, why are the "militias" automatically the bad guys? Why the stupid stuff about guns?)

I watched the pilot episode of Arrow twice, and not just because the actor playing Oliver is so very very pretty. I don't know any of the comic book plot or characters for Green Arrow or whatever it's based on, and that might be a good thing. In any case, so far so good and it goes on my watch list.

Go Tigers! Though the Yankees are to be despised, it's too bad about Jeter.

Let there be shadow for text.

I was having a problem with my computer.. sometimes only the 32 bit works and sometimes only the 64 bit.. but of course windows doesn't tell me whats going on.. so I start thinking the worst.. I thought it must be a virus even though all the scans are coming out clean.

Windows sucks.

That was a great comeback for the Tigers..

Too bad Meade prob went to bed and didn't catch it.

I have discovered the joy of mac and cheese and I know how restaurant do it. Different than you. While doing this, it occurred to me for later, this could be done with crab, yes crab and cheese, I realize that breaks a fundamental rule but screw rules, rules never accounted for American cheese, and that is what is so weird about it -- something so cheap and no class combined with things special and expensive is so counterintuitively irreligiously fantastic. I've been having a lot of fun with different types of pasta and combinations of ingredients. They're getting soupier and soupier. Creamier. Toppings and such. It's all good.

One of the things that makes French onion soup so fantastic is that crouton toast raft covered with melted cheese. It's like a floating pizza with the bottom soaked with beef onion flavor, floating on top of your soup that is a hearty beef broth with a pile of caramelized onion inside and tiny black bits of burnt beef marrow floating around. The black bits are how you know if it's real. You can do a similar thing with mac and cheese. Make it creamy wet, float a toasted crouton, and melt cheese over it. Taadaaa.

@Alan "Considering the current state of affairs in Europe, I wonder...how much riot gear will the Nobel Peace Prize money buy?"

I would disagree. They should invest in missile carrying drones. You know, to follow the lead of the Maximum One. He sits alone atop the Guiness Book for most tonnage dropped by a peace prize winner.

Synova, thanks for the heads up about Arrow. Hadn't even heard about it. I was a Smallville fan for a while, and found the Green Arrow character there one of the better one's on the show. Worth a look, to be sure.

I watched the first couple episodes of Revolution, but it didn't do much for me. Not sure why. Possibly the reasons you say, possibly because it just seemed too over-dramatic. People become caricatures.

I am liking Last Resort, another in the Lost style of shows.

Kentuckyliz, I remember kayaking a while back and watching a bald eagle catching a fish. I followed it back to its nest. This is in SoCal, so we don't get a lot of those here, to be sure. I don't think we became quite one, as it decided to call out to its mate, and their voices are, frankly, a fair bit off-putting.

We have bald eagle who frequents our lake in northern Wisconsin. I think he likes it because we have a "no motors" rule, nice and quite. We feed him fish. stun a small bass and throw it next to the boat. The eagle will swoop down and TWACK...an amazing sight. I've also seen it take a loon chick. Natures a bitch.

Was Eastwood right about both Obama and Biden?

To re-cap:

He said that Obama was an empty chair without the tele-promtper.

He said that Biden was a body behind a grin.

Wow, that is right. How could we have forgotten that line after all the dental work and the only thing that came out of the debate?

Intellectually, I'm rooting for the Yankees (even before the Jeter injury) because it's the better match up for my Giants; in my heart, I know that's like rooting for Goldman Sachs.

Who the hell does that?

So I was happy to see the Tiger relief pitcher, Smyly, retire the side.

Anyway.

Go Niners. Go Giants (the original, baseball Giants, people!).
