Should a $13,500 sleep pod be part of the office decor — sending the message that napping is company policy?

"It's jelly-bean shaped..."

(That's not what it looked like to me.)

Where do you put the batteries?

From a former manager's point of view, I would think napping would definitely fall into the "give them an inch and they'll take a mile" category. As cool as it sounds, and despite some high-forehead type telling me the contrary, I simply can't see a loss of an hour of productivity on top of a lunch hour to be beneficial.

We're simply not getting enough sleep as a people. Period.

Don Draper sends the same message with a $17 bottle of Canadian Club.

Covering a sleeper with a snow of torn up bits of paper is the usual office practice where I come from.

I've seen vibrators that look like that.

Is that what she meant?

If so, she and The Blonde get the same catalog.

PS Hitting Publish from the little preview box isn't working in Chrome.

More of the 'Net on strike?

I think napping should be company policy! A brief afternoon nap will make one much more alert and able to handle the end-of-the-day tasks than otherwise, when one often is just dragging ass until quitting time.

Isn't this obvious?

If it's obvious, then all you have to do, Cook, is start a business that is just like any other successful business, except for nap time. The productivity boost will generate big profits for you.

Why do I have the feeling that you'd rather have the government mandate nap time, on the basis of your certitude?

Things must be slow at the Daily Worker.

It needs to come with its cover like the larger outdoor grills do.

I believe Trojans carries that in latex.

What kind of jelly beans has she been eating?!

Two guesses. Either the Xerox machine they use to publish their poorly-copied weekly is on the fritz, or their gotee trimming mirror is cracked and they're waiting for a replacement from the capitalist pigdog Walgreens down the street.

The need for a nap is part of what accounts for the drop in productivity with aging.

Many older docs are managing this by cutting back to part-time work, say 90-80-70% time.

Naps are the new new biz fad.

But getting fired has always been popular in business, so we'll see which one wins out.

I want to start a business that is a nap store.

You come in, you buy a nap. One hour of time on a comfy couch next to a fireplace, with a TV playing Ghostbusters or Back to the Future at low volume.

Sounds better than a sleep pod.

It's a scaled-up version of the bit of sculpture Alex uses to brain the old lady with in A Clockwork Orange.

Don't know how to answer the question in the title, but the fact that someone is apparently willing to spend $13,500 on this thing is sending me the message that I'm in the wrong business.

Whenever I nap at work (and we're talking 20 min max not an hour of course, you don't nap for an HOUR!), my productivity soars.

We only have two nap rooms and lately they're always occupied.

Naps are without question beneficial.

Hire people you trust.
