I love when a politician's cute son does the talking for him.

Merry Christmas, from Rand/Ron Paul. Now, shut up all you people who are being so mean about Ron Paul.

It's Christmastime. Time to calm down and be of good cheer or whatever... while the politicians work overtime getting their full-scale attacks ready for next week.

Sex sells even in politics! Unless you are herman cain.

I like RP, even if I totally disagree with him. He's principled and articulate. He should get more respect than he does.

Translation: Ron Paul can dish it out but can't take it.

Typical.

Rand Paul's shirt is distracting. Why aren't the collars meeting above the tie?

They have a C-span piece on Doctor Paul about to run again in 1995.

He shows the same practiced bedside manor we are used to seeing now...but then he bragged of staying in politics during his 80s hiatus from Congress in his "teaching" using his Newsletter to put out his point of view.

Like Dr. Mengele, Dr Paul's bedside manor is a poor excuse for the poison he was prescribing for his Newsletter readers who loyally were paying for for the poison, and who now want their Dr Paul spreading that poison everywhere in the name of the Libertarians.

Sen. Rand Paul is more a conservative than his father who is a Libertarian. I voted for Rand, and think he'd make a great President. Don't blame him for stepping up to the plate about his father. That's what us ol' men do. I can say all kinds of stuff about my Dad, but you can't. You haven't been there.

Ron Paul isn't a libertarian; he's a hypocritical crank. He preaches fiscal restraint, but is a master of pork and earmarks. His district is among the highest in the nation in receiving federal dollars.

He has said "If they are going to allot the money, I have a responsibility to represent my people." Problem is, that's what most politicians say. Even more hypocritical is that many of his pork projects are in direct contrast to his stated positions.

About as popular as Nader.

It's the stupid party, being led by it's social conservatives!

And, it's amazing. The GOP stands a good chance of falling into 3rd place. Just like they did when they didn't listen to Teddy Roosevelt. Who came in 2nd.

Leaving the race to Woodrow Wilson.

But, sure. This leaves room for Donald Trump. One way or another; there's gonna be an announcement on May 21st.

You think the presidential race is already exciting?

Joe

RP is against the earmarks, but understands that, if they are going to be passed out countrywide, it would be unfair to the people he represents to cut them out, while they pay for everyone else.

So, generally what he does [it's not always possible] is insert his own earmarks or programs, then vote against the whole bill. He hopes to defeat it, but protects his constituents if it passes.

It's a principaled reasonable creative solution.

Ron Paul: scumbag of the worst sort.

Rand Paul: scumbag jr.

Rand seems pretty normal, and I like his courage in standing up to the Senate. Or is he just hiding his weirdness?

Joe said...

Sorry Tank, but that excuse is nonsense. There are several politicians who aren't hypocritical about earmarks and pork. And even if we excuse a little grabbing a fair share, Ron Paul grabs far more than the fair share. He's like the greedy little bastard who goes to a birthday and tells everyone else that cake is bad for you and then sits in the corner stuffing his face with it.

Moreover, he knows the bills he lards up will pass. That's makes him a good politician, but not a libertarian and certainly not principled.

NOW I know why Andrew Sullivan endorsed Ron Paul.

There's gonna be a lot more comments of the "scumbag" variety when Paul wins Iowa. He threatens a lot of very fat and happy ricebowls, that's why.

Ron Paul is as fake as his son's hairpiece.

Reminds me of John Malan in Milwaukee; not really fooling anyone.

"Like Dr. Mengele"

So, what do you think a President Ron Paul* would actually do in office? Would he wait until the second day of his term to set up the death camps, or would he get busy right away? Would he call them "bedside manors" to hide his nefarious intent?

*Yes, I know, not gonna happen.

Full disclosure: I don't know much about Rand Paul, but I like what I've seen so far. Ron Paul? Errr...not so much.

However, based on my admittedly limited knowledge of the Senator, I think Carnifex is right that Rand Paul is more a modern American 'conservative' (as that term is currently defined) than his father. And I think that of the two, Senator Paul's proposals are more reality-based.

However, whatever my opinions of either member of the Paul family, I have only respect for Rand Paul's familial loyalty as it is displayed here. And I also think we should recognize that Senator Paul is taking a political risk here since his father's popularity is limited to his loyal supporters - the Establishment is undeniably not so keen.

Good cheer please.

Nothing wrong with humoring your old man. Ron Paul doesn't stand to win anyways, he's left of Teh Won on foreign policy.

Do not pass go, do not clect $200.

I like Rand Paul! He is a regular guest on the Dennis Miller show, and he's great. Wish he was running instead of his old man.

Can't hardly blame him for defending his father... who wouldn't want to, in the same position? As for Ron, I like a lot of what he has to say. Too bad the rest of it is so kooky.

I'm so confused at this point, I don't know who I support, beyond ABO. (anylivingorganism but obama)

Why does Ran Paul look like hes holding back a load?

Couldn't he just go before making hitting the spot?

Ron Paul is a nutcase with a nutcase following. Of course the son is a nutcase too.

traditionalguy said...

Dr Paul is a practiced propagandist that incites followers hatreds of "the betrayers" while he bonds with them under the identity of chosen ones who see enemies as nobody else can.

That line is evil because it catches so many people who withdraw from reality and trust only Dr Paul's special vision.

It is catching on among many young people like Hitler's line did with 30% of the Germans in 1930.

Paul loves Americans the same way Jim Jones loved Jonestown.

tradguy - it's not just Ron Paul. There are plenty of cultists all around who take advantage of the mentally weak members of our society.

edutcher said...

In his last interview (on Cavuto), Rand did a little discreet distancing from Ron, it seemed.

Is this the same Rand Paul of "Aqua Buddha" infamy? Is that the faith he speaks of?

Wonder if Rand hates Joos as much as Pop?

Just sayin!

Being the high class sort of guy that I am, I used to take the Greyhound to Austin. I met a lady once who revealed that the problem with young people was "tiger milk." You see mothers weren't nursing their children but giving them "tiger milk" which left them, BUT OF COURSE, excessively aggressive. Shame Rep. Paul didn't meet her; he'd have found out it wasn't the Martian moon rocks at the Fed. Maybe it's me, but "tiger milk" makes more sense.

"Aqua Budha"? Really? You never got stupid at college, away from home and all weeded up?

Here's a clue, I give to the Libtards, free, in the spirit of the season. Go to Amazon (linked from this site), buy a movie called "Animal House", and a DVD/Blueray player and a flat screen TV. Hook them together. Watch the movie.

(If any do, Althouse, Ill expect a cut) :-)
