Do we care if Biden says the f-word to Obama and it's picked up by the microphone?

And if we do care that Biden said "Mr. President, this is a big fucking deal," why should we care?

Why should we care?
Biden shouldn't be saying bad words.
Obama shouldn't be hearing bad words.
Biden shouldn't be so fucking careless in front of a microphone.
Obama and Biden should be more circumspect about exercising power and not enthusing like schoolboys.
We don't like being reminded that we really are fucked.

I always thought W. 's comment to Cheney near a live mike during the 2000 election: "There's Adam Clymer, major-league asshole from the New York Times" and Cheney replying back "Oh yeah, big time" pretty much clinched the election for him.

Unlike Biden's comment, I think that one from Bush was planned.

As a new convert to the left's insistence that we respect science, their deep concern for the health of the citizenry, and their vision to create a tight-knit, loving community of compassion (as well as their attention to keeping healthcare costs down):

I propose the immediate passage of tough new federal laws to restrict gay sex, limit to 3 the number of sexual partners each person can have, ban smoking outright, and ban unwed birth and divorce.

Science is clear that these activities all cause an increase incidence of health problems, and it isn't fair that some people should use up more than their fair share of health care resources and costs.

It should be widely declared that it is unpatriotic and morally wrong to our collective community, to get an STD and thereby waste government and the tax payer's resources to treat you.

Therefore, I propose a Sex Partner Cap and Trade system whereby each person can sell or buy their allotment of sexual partners.

Smokers should be put in jail for absconding with the public's hard borrowed health care funds.

Abortion must be recognized for what it truly is - a killer of a future tax payer and insurance buyer - and therefore must be banned.

I'm starting to see the left's vision for a Utopian society. I wonder they can see and agree with my vision also.

Chip Ahoy said...

Hahaha.

Science has determined that the impulse to control the behavior of others is a nervous condition that left untreated develops to a debilitative state. This is bad. For the sake of a healthy community, it's determined to check those impulses, whenever such a thought is expressed, the person should deposit $5.00 into a community account to be divided between myself and for M&M candy for everybody else.

reader_iam said...

No, no, no, Quayle--smoking should be ENCOURAGED (though not near nonsmokers): Taxes on cigarettes fund a hell of a lot of other stuff (have you checked lately how much states rely on them?), and we can always just refuse to treat smokers for any condition that could be related to smoking, thus NOT expending any more (and likely less) health care resources on them. And then, they'll die younger!--thus posing less of drain than longer-living elderly types do. Think of the savings in Social Security payouts, for example.

Let's review the order of succession - Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Robert Byrd.

And that explains why Obama scarcely needs Secret Service or a life insurance policy while he's in office.

When Obama selected Biden, I said that very day it was reason enough for him to lose the election. Then the MSM deep-sixed its coverage of Biden, he just completely disappeared, and they covered up all his past mishaps, too. Anyone familiar with Biden's record knows that he was a very poor choice for the office.

Yet here we are, 2 years and 10 months to go.

The winter is forbidden till December
And exits March the second on the dot.
By order, summer lingers through September
In Camelot.

Camelot! Camelot!
I know it sounds a bit bizarre,
But in Camelot, Camelot
That's how conditions are.
The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
In short, there's simply not
A more congenial spot

Camelot! Camelot!
I know it gives a person pause,

Those are the legal laws.
The snow may never slush upon the hillside.
By nine p.m. the moonlight must appear.

they think torture would be OK w/ Jesus, they refuse to help pregnant women w/maternity care but insist on her giving birth to a healthy child, and my personal favorite: they insist that the Bible is devoid of the call to social justice.

OK. Well, then, let ME get something straight ...

People who are trying to get things straight and pins things down (and, by the way, by implication make accusations of inability to recognize nuance) present their queries as "the XXs [in this case, Republicans] think...".

Not "some XXs". Not "a few XXs". Not even "most XXS."

Oh, no--it's "the XXS...".

Now, it is true that you, Rosanne Ferreri-Feske, CEO, specifically wrote: "The GOP.... But, of course, and as well you know, you followed right quickly thereafter with a whole string of "are's" and "they's". What ought anyone to take from that but that you're not really talking about an official entity, but rather all (and, perhaps, any) individuals who are (and, I suspect, can in any way be) connected with that label, and-- by extension--any other labels you use to diminish people you don't agree with, perhaps don't like, or maybe even both.

Let's review what you wrote, in your own words, one more time:

Let me make myself clear: I am not calling out a group. And I am not calling out a particular someone on the basis of what I think this, that or another Official Grouping or even group of people must think.

Big Mike said...

Hmm. I logged off too early last night and missed the comment by Rosanne Ferreri-Feske.

Rosanne, before we get into "social justice," can I start by asking you what the phrase means to you?

Because to me social justice means that somebody who works harder than his peers should do better that someone who doesn't work as hard. To me social justice means that someone who is into instant gratification should lose out over time to someone who displays more self-discipline. To me social justice means that someone who goes through college taking Mickey-Mouse courses should not get as good a job offer out of college as someone who put in twenty-hour days studying engineering.

And, especially, it means that limousine liberals should not vote for school board members whose policies result in lower-quality education for public school attendees, then send their own kids off to expensive private schools.

Any of that seem close to the mark, Ms. Rosanne Ferreri-Feske?

And, for the record, neither Joe Biden nor Dick Cheney displayed respect for the office they hold (or held, in Cheney's case) by launching f-bombs in public.

reader_iam,

What is social justice?

First, it's not voluntary for people who call themselves Christians; it's a commandment.

Social justice is defined as being fair and just to all you meet and helping the poor and needy.

Here are just a few of the 2000 passages that require sharing:

* "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing." Deuteronomy 10:18

* "However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you." Deuteronomy 15:4

* "If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother." Deuteronomy 15:7

* "There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land." Deuteronomy 15:11

* "Do not take advantage of a hired man who is poor and needy, whether he is a brother Israelite or an alien living in one of your towns." Deuteronomy 24:14

* "Do not deprive the alien or the fatherless of justice, or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge." Deuteronomy 24:17

* "'Cursed is the man who withholds justice from the alien, the fatherless or the widow.' Then all the people shall say, Amen!'" Deuteronomy 27:19

* "He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor." 1 Samuel 2:8

* "because I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist him." Job 29:12

* "Have I not wept for those in trouble? Has not my soul grieved for the poor?" Job 30:25

* "If I have denied the desires of the poor or let the eyes of the widow grow weary." Job 31:16

* "The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble." Psalm 9:9

* "But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish." Psalm 9:18

* " Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise, says the LORD, I will protect them from those who malign them. " Psalm 12:5

* "You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge." Psalm 14:6

* "This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles." Psalm 34:6

* "My whole being will exclaim, Who is like you, 0 LORD? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.'" Psalm 35:10

* "The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright." Psalm 37:14

* "Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay." Psalm 40:17

* "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling." Psalm 68:5

* "He will defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; he will crush the oppressor." Psalm 72:4

* "For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death." Psalm 72:12-13

Only non-belivers say sharing is optional and voluntary.Pick up a copy the Poverty and Justice Bible, same as King James but with all 2000 OT and NT scriptures on helping the needy highlighted.
