Birds pull at that bark for the nesting material.

Kids pull at that bark for the sheer joy of it.

But it's also true that the birds are having fun and the kids are accomplishing something.

So it goes.

I felt like pulling off a piece and writing on it.... it's so papery.

But then I have graphomania.

I'm barking mad with it.

Collar it!

Whao! Those are some BIG barky-breaded onion ring things!

BTW, is that, perchance a "Paperbark Maple" we are being up close and personal with? If so, you should write on it, send it to your publisher as world's first Paperbark Paperback.

Paperbark writer.

If you really like it you can have the rights,
It could make a million hits for you tonight.
If you must return it, you can send it here
But I need a break and I want to be a paperbark writer,
Paperbark writer.

IR, they're specimens of Heritage River Birch, in clump form.

PDF, here.

You Betula your Sweet Gum and Ash they are, Bissage.

But don't arbor a grudge if I don't play your druidic games.

Randy said...

Thanks, Bissage! They did look rather birchy to me, but the reference to paper had me wondering. Pity. Mine never lived long enough to get so pretty, or messy I assume.

Hoary old trees
In hairy bark;
Better this than
Naked and stark.

No wonder the leaves are rustling. It's a strip tease.

No wonder the leaves are quivering. It’s a flaying.
