Waiting for Kos.

I think this is a pretty cute -- if substanceless ad -- for Ned Lamont. But when we finally see the candidate, he's standing in front of a window, and I just kept looking at the window, waiting for Kos to show up.

So is this inadvertent, or a clever trick to get me to propagate the ad?

What I found interesting was that he stated that Lieberman and he should support whoever wins the democractic nomination. Lamont knows he loses if Lieberman runs as an independent... I haven't been keeping up on the race though. Is this something Lamont usually says?

"desperate plea for affection"

My nomination for the new tag line on this blog!

Sippician: You hear barking. That says more about you than it does about Lamont. Obviously, none of you can stand the idea that Leiberman is vulnerable on Iraq. But there it is.

And talk about desperation: who is the one planning to run as an indepenent, he is so sure to lose his own party's primary?!

Well, maybe not his own party, but the one in which he is currently running.

After watching the ad, the phrase "Missed by THAT MUCH!" popped in my head.

I didn't have a problem with the lecturing-the-camera bit. It is a fairly common tactic and most people understand that they are not personally being addressed. But one of my pet peeves is politicians who say "let's stick to the issues" then either don't list them at all (as in this case) or mention them without stating their position. As Ann says, cute but substanceless.

"The main point of his argument is that in the post 9/11 world, the usual Democrat/ Republican dichotomy is outdated; what matters is whether someone is a neoconservative or not. And by all accounts, Lieberman is a true neoconservative. Therefore, if you are against the neoconservative foreign policy, you should vote against Lieberman."

And what exactly would the good people of CT be voting for? Note to Democrats: At some point, it would help to let us know what you believe in. What is your plan for the United States? How will your plan make the US and it's citizens stronger, safer, more competitive and financially secure? Until you answer those, and other questions without invoking the "we vote against" mantra, you'll continue to fade further and further into the pages of history.

I live in CT, and here's the news from the front: nobody cares about this primary. You don't see many bumper stickers or lawn signs (yes, a few Volvos with Lamont on them, but very few).

This is a fight around the fringes, a bunch of monkeys throwing Samsonite luggage around a cage, not really thinking that there is anything outside the zoo.

I usually vote Republican (I live in the only CT county that went for Bush last time), but I will vote for Joe, since on the only issue of real importance that won't resolve itself for the best over time--our safety--his views are the same as mine.
