Meade says that morning posts and morning comments are the best — sharp, humorous, insightful.

Later in the day, the quality declines, and at night... look out.

Is Meade right?

Domitian‎, the Proud Sexy Gay Commenter says...

I think morning blow-jobs are best. I mean, getting my Horse Cock sucked by a hot brown man who barely speaks English is great at any time of day, but in the morning I find my ejaculatory power is at it's prime -- when I shoot my load I can practically hit the ceiling, and my condo has high ceilings, natch....

The problem is finding the hot brown men in the morning: it's not like I'm going to let them stay over at the condo from the night before: Ew...

You can sometimes find them at the coffee shops, reading their laptops, but it is harder to get them into cock-sucking this early in the morning: it's like that is their time when they are most reticent about sucking a man's cock -- like, maybe they're emailing their mother back home, and Mother Does Not Like Son Having The Gay Sex...

It's best to find someone who just finished a night shift: night shift work means they're poor, and I've found that the poor usually give better blow-jobs, they're not thinking so much...

The problem is that, by the end of their shift, their breath is pretty bad -- some of the things these people eat!! -- and having some guy with bad breath sucking your Horse Cock can kill the moment: I don't want my cock smelling like lamb shawarma when we're done, thank you...

But I keep spare toothbrushes in the condo so they can clean themselves up before they get near my cock. Of course, if they have REALLY bad teeth I'm not letting them anywhere near my condo -- some people have mouths that are only meant for sucking cocks at bus stations....

Bye, everyone! Suck suck!

I am Laslo.

Pretty much agree with Meade. Late late night tends to be a shouting match between left and right. It might be the boredom of being up in the middle of the night, when the world around them is asleep. The two sleep issue that Ann blogged about a week or two ago explains why I am up then - but I mostly don't have an interest in mud slinging, so just read the comments. My problem is that I am addicted to Ann's Altblog, and have been for many years, obsessively, compulsively, checking the blog for new postings that might be interesting, and the comment threads that I have found interesting, around the clock.

Popularity is for idiots and socialites. Effectiveness for America is what I admire in a President. That he proceeded to piss off our allies, encourage our enemies and sow chaos across the globe verified my impression was more closely aligned with reality than was the Obama-worshiping global media circle-jerk.

And yes, the trolls come out late afternoon and absolutely ruin the night threads with repetitive, banal posts. Those of us with real jobs often get distracted during the "best" parts of the day, but a lot depends on what Althouse posts and when she posts it.

The rest of the world mostly watches state-owned TV, and their globalist elites dictate the content. The BBC is NPR on steroids.

The world (outside of Eastern Europe) didn't like Reagan either. So what? Reagan did far more positive good for the world than Obama ever did.

Exactly. An argument for how we should conform to the wishes and dictates of other peoples isn't a winning one.

Inga, didn't your mother ever warn you about not mindlessly going along with whatever your friends do? "If they all want to jump off a cliff, you don't have to follow them."

Jives said...

I think it's just the nature of this medium. You do most of your posting early in the day, Ann. Engagement in the comments follows a certain pattern: early comments usually stake out the various sides of the debate, subsequent comments thrash out the arguments of those various viewpoints. A lot of good stuff usually comes up, but, since there's really no end-game here, the conversation eventually peters out as people go get on with their lives.

If you posted mostly in the evening, I think you might see the same pattern. But perhaps people are crankier after a long day....

Paddy O said...

Most Americans came from different parts of the world because they found life unbearable for whatever reason. America tried to stay isolated from the rest of the world, but the world kept fighting with each other and led the US to intervene in the 20th century. Part of Trump's bad reputation is him resisting the rest of the world wanting to leave their part of the world and come here.

The world doesn't really have a good record that lends credence to its opinions.

Which doesn't say anything positive or negative about Trump himself, just that the world has a bad record in discerning wise leadership.

It's a bit like asking someone who has been divorced 5 times to offer their opinion about my marriage. They may indeed have some insights, but much of what they think isn't really helpful as they don't really know what a good marriage looks like.

For the first time since WWII the Germans are being forced to realize that they will have to defend Germany with German bodies not American bodies. They are having a really hard time facing up to that.

Here's a piece in the WSJ about the Germans current attitude toward the military as it applies in the ME. The subhead says it all: "The country is surprised its military faces danger in Syria. But what then does it think its military is for?"

It's cute when the left pretends to care about America even as they damage America with their Russian fantasies to support their partisan hate.

The only thing that the Russia obsession reveals is something we found out for the first time in 2000 - that the Left cannot bear losing an election and cannot cope with defeat gracefully.

Yes, conservatives were depressed and angry in '08 and '12. We didn't pitch a months-long temper tantrum. The Tea Party arose in opposition to Obama's policies; it wasn't simply a hissy fit over the very idea of the man himself occupying the Oval Office. Drago, you are aware that Uranium is not a particularly rare element. It's not like there is a shortage. We have an open economy, if a Russian business buys a mine it is not a huge deal. As a result, I rarely ever recognize the time of day when a response is posted. I actually find it hard to believe that anyone really looks at posting times.

I've been around since 2002 I think. Don't comment much anymore. The quality of the Leftists who post here is very low. Lower than when Crack Emcee and garage were still posting openly (I think an Unknown may be garage). Yes, lower than that.

If you are an intellectual conservative you can have great conversations here with smart, like-minded people... and that can be fun and educational...but I like getting into the meat of things and there isn't a Lefty who posts here that can make an intelligent, rational argument.

Just look at Inga: Yesterday she posted her complete misunderstanding of the Supreme Court stay of the lower court's injunction. Does she own her mistake and learn? No. She goes on line and grabs whatever face-saving spin she can conjure up. Does she have the intellect to actually digest and interpret what she is reading and posting. Clearly, the answer is no.

There is nothing to be gained to engaging her other than that perverse joy of watching an idiot self-destruct. That isn't enough.

And Inga is just an example. Cookie is thought by some to be the most honest of the Lefties here, but he's just Inga with a better vocabulary and fewer daughters.

I had hopes to find a smart, well-informed, rational group of people who simply have different political beliefs than mine with whom I could have a good back-and-forth. But that is not the case here, with the sole exception of our hostess. And she has clearly become more conservative over the years, which is gratifying.

Similar to Godwin's law is this: Any online discussion that goes on long enough will end up in ad hominem attacks.

I can recall as far back as the usenet bulletin boards of the 90s, that even in a thread about selling a used refrigerator, the longer the thread went on it led to arguments over things like which brand is best, over the mechanics and physics behind refrigeration, etc., and then dissolved into a back-and-forth of personal insults. It was kinda funny watching the thread evolve. Unfortunately, today's political arguments have become predictable, repetitive and the insults get boring very quickly. A number of evening commenters don't understand the difference between productive and unproductive conflict, or how mind-numbing ad hominem attacks are. It's like listening to drunken parents run through the same late-night arguments for the thousandth time.

Ritmo and pretty much PBJ are useless to have around as everything is nastiness.

Oh, I'm sorry. Who died and made you god?

And who told you that you were a pleasant person? Clearly they weren't telling you the truth.

I see Ritmo is also infecting this thread.

Meade, is this what you want ?

Bad Lieutenant said...

Yes, Doc, it is.

Chuck or somebody had an interesting notion a day or two ago: that President Trump would flip parties and run in 2020 as the Democratic candidate.

I have long thought that if he did, number one, he would get the nomination, the Democrats would accept him and promote him with vigor, forgetting, denying, twisting all their criticisms of the past; and number two, the Republicans would lose to him.

No offense, EP, but really, you are trolling. You never have anything interesting to say of your own. Now you will consult your Magic 8-Ball and crank out some mindless, meaningless reply like "distinctions not cost-effective," but the question is, why do you do it? I ask to know.

Don't worry, I'm not awaiting a cogent reply. I suspect you are some kind of stunt. Someone's puppet, maybe I shouldn't say whose. Maybe a bot, you are that content-free. Whatever. Live long and prosper.

Get over yourself, Michael K. And stop being a one-man critic. Bad enough you have to act like a tattle tail.

Just grow up already. No one cares to hear you come in and announce that you're leaving and that one (or two or five) people have made things too unpleasant for someone as unneighborly as yourself.

The degree to which you seek to control this blog and its comments section is astonishing.

Meade: You're enough of a man to not let Michael K assert control over you and Ann. He's trying to run your blog for you, and it's obnoxious and not his place to do so.

He needs to understand that he's not the boss of you.

"And stop being a one-man critic"

You have not noticed everyone else complaining about you ?

"He's trying to run your blog for you, and it's obnoxious and not his place to do so. "

I don;t want to run anything. I have two other blogs. I like the exchange with some other commenters, not you who seem always to be hysterical and angry. Have you ever posted anything that was positive ?

At least it is morning now and, like all good vampires, you are probably asleep. The rest of us can have some interesting discussion about airplanes or Normandy invasions or anything but Trump.
