areomagazine.com has some articles from a fairly-rational-liberal viewpoint, e.g.

Malhar Mali: There seems to be an extreme strain of thought held by some that Trump’s inauguration will signal the apocalypse and return of the third-reich, that people of color will be rounded up, women will be sexually assaulted en-masse, and LGBTQ citizens will be executed on sight. What are your thoughts on that?

Gad Saad: Early last year I introduced a theory to explain the mass hysteria associated with social justice warriors. I called it “collective Munchausen” syndrome. Munchausen disorder is when somebody feigns a medical illness or injury to garner sympathy and empathy. Munchausen syndrome by proxy is when you have somebody under your care — say your child — and you harm that third party to garner sympathy. “Look, my child is hurt!” So it’s a really morbid, grotesque psychological desire to draw attention to yourself because you enjoy the sympathy you receive.

+

MM: Moving on, as a professor and Person of Color how are you treated by your colleagues or students when you don’t buy into the popular narrative?

P: I’ve been called a racist. I get called a racist by white undergraduate girls because I don’t believe their definitions from Introductory Sociology 101.

MM: You mean the academic definition of racism as: “Prejudice + Power”?

P: Yes. That “Brown people can’t be racist; Black people can’t be racist — only white people can be racist.” I say to them the most racist people I know are my kind and they call me a racist for that.

Is Althouse on the road again? That would explain the small # of posts today.

I emailed this story to Althouse:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/26/world/europe/sweden-fraud-fox-news-commentator-trump.html?_r=0

Long story short; The O'Reilly Factor put on a guy to buttress the Trump "claim" (actually it was a right-wing media claim, to help cover for Trump's weirdly reckless claim aboujt "... last night in Sweden... SWEDEN!..." The Factor set him up as Swedish national security expert. They did a subscript caption giving him the title “Swedish defense and national security adviser.” The title was made up by a Fox News editor. According to the subject himself. He said he knew nothing about the entitlement, and that it was not his doing.

Tonight, Bill O sort of fessed up. In a Factor kind of way. Caught dead to rights, O'Reilly admitted that they should not have used the guy and/or set him up as they did. The substance of the program, Bill O claimed, was nonetheless valid and true. Except for the part about the fact that that Swedish guy is now based in the United States, and I am not so sure when he's been back in Sweden. And so how the heck does he know what is going on in Sweden?

O'Reilly did clarify that his producers had asked for an appearance from the Swedish Bikini Team, but they declined. No wait; I am sorry. They asked the Swedish Ambassador to the United States to appear, but he declined. There; got it right now. I'm glad, because this is the No-Spin Zone, where I'm always lookin' out for you. Geeze, I miss the Swedish Bikini Team. More than I miss Old Milwaukee beer.

So, Chuck (are you *sure* there's an h in there? It just makes a lot more sense without it...), what's your point? That Swedish women are fortunate to live in the rape capital of the World? That importing large numbers of Muslim scum into a modern Western Welfare State was a really good idea? That the Muslims are just rioting the riots that Swedes won't riot? Burning the vehicles Swedes are too lazy to burn? Maybe raping the women Swedes are too polite to rape? Those immigrants have a thousand uses, don't they! It's funny, there are a lot of people in America who would agree with you, but damn few of them are lifelong Republicans. Damn few.

Memo to D.T.:

It is not too early to launch a "Make Every Legitimate Vote Count" initiative. Fraudulent votes dilute the power of legitimate votes.

Yes, voter rolls are properly within purview of the States. But a fraudulent voter suppresses the civil rights of legitimate voters. Where civil rights are concerned, Federal power to reach into the States is well established.

Your pen and your phone are available to encourage the States to pass strong photo ID requirement for voters, and invite DOJ workers to assist in reviewing their voter rolls and election procedures.

Interesting theory up there in the comment by Fernandinande about Munchausen syndrome and its proxy. It does go a long way to explain the mass hysteria on the left.

According to O'Reilly's apology, Nils Bildt is in "the security business," but privately with no government connection, so somebody screwed up, but not with evil intent.

And if his name really is Nils Bildt as in one of those Bildts, he may or may not be a black sheep of the family, but he is a somebody.

It's not his real name. It's a changed name. A name that was changed while the guy was in the USA, in what many believe was a transparent attempt to glom onto some notoriety off the Swedish PM.

Plainly weird. I'm not sure what the purported explanation even was.
