"Why don’t you leave suburbia for once — come and see me — either here — or at the Cape next week or in Boston the 19th."

"I know it is unwise, irrational, and that you may hate it — on the other hand you may not — and I will love it. You say that it is good for me not to get what I want. After all of these years — you should give me a more loving answer than that. Why don’t you just say yes."

JFK wrote to in a letter to Mary Pinchot Meyer in October 1963 — a letter he never sent. JFK was shot to death the next month. And the following year, Meyer too was shot to death.

From the Wikipedia page for Mary Pinchot Meyer:
In 1983, former Harvard University psychology lecturer Timothy Leary claimed that in the spring of 1962, Pinchot Meyer, who, according to her biographer Nina Burleigh "wore manners and charm like a second skin", told Leary she was taking part in a plan to avert worldwide nuclear war by convincing powerful male members of the Washington establishment to take mind-altering drugs, which would presumably lead them to conclude that the Cold War was meaningless.

According to Leary, Meyer had sought him out for the purpose of learning how to conduct LSD sessions with these powerful men, including, she strongly implied, President John F. Kennedy, who was then her lover. Leary alleged that Pinchot Meyer told him she had shared in this plan with at least seven other Washington socialite friends who held similar political views and were trying to supply LSD to a small circle of high-ranking government officials. Leary also claimed that Pinchot Meyer had asked him for help while in a state of fear for her own life after the assassination of President Kennedy.

In his biography Flashbacks (1983), Leary claimed he had a call from Pinchot Meyer soon after the Kennedy assassination during which she sobbed and said, "They couldn't control him any more. He was changing too fast...They've covered everything up. I gotta come see you. I'm afraid. Be careful."...

wow, this is stuff I did not learn in school

Meyer was shot to death on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal towpath on October 12, 1964, three weeks after the release of the Warren Commission Report, whose conclusions Meyer allegedly challenged.[6][7] The timing of her killing and the effort by CIA counterintelligence chief James Angleton to retrieve Meyer’s diary immediately after her murder have prompted investigation of possible CIA involvement in her death.[8] The African American man accused of her murder, Ray Crump, Jr., was acquitted at trial in July, 1965. Her murder remains officially unsolved.

When one reads the full article on Mary Pinchot & contemplates what exactly was a whack-job like that doing in such intimate proximity to the President of the USA, one starts to understand that Trump is not really more of a narcissistic nutcase than we've had rule over us many times before in the past, he's just a more public, in-yer-face, new social media kind of narcissistic nutcase.

I mean, really, could Trump be more of a security risk than Hillary with her server or JFK, who just had this ingrained habit of fucking major security risks? Somehow, the Republic survived. "Children, drunks, & the United States", I believe Otto von B. said.

i agree that what we've seen with trump is not really all that new in a lot of ways.

Pinchot and JFK went way back, to prep school days. It was an open secret then and while JFK was president. She was lovely, charming and reliably discreet. She was also one of the ones that Jackie knew about, and was threatened by. Same social class, and a much longer association with Jack. Leary took advantage of her like he took advantage of everyone, and she was a pretty easy mark because she was used to getting away with everything.

Whether she and Jack actually took LSD together is unclear. But it was available to him. Everything was available to him.

The plan was thwarted when they were prevented from entering after being recognized by White House security personnel, as Slick had been placed on an FBI blacklist."

I did know about this one. Her murder is in the mix of conspiracy theories.
Not that I credit most of them, but there was an awful lot of funny business about the Kennedy's, to this day. There are a host of mysteries and ambiguities that have not yet all been revealed or explained. And the press has always largely been in their pocket, like it wasn't for even Johnson.

"Trump is not really more of a narcissistic nutcase than we've had rule over us many times before in the past, he's just a more public, in-yer-face, new social media kind of narcissistic nutcase."

Much less of one than many others in the office, his main distinction is personal charisma most others lacked. It takes a very unusual personality to win to that position, or anything like it.

One huge plus about Trump, should he win, is that there wont be any mysteries.

I like Nina Burleigh a lot and this makes me want to read her book. Her book on the Amanda Knox case was excellent. Also, I always kind of liked her for her comment about Clinton. How many feminists would have the guts to says something like that. Can you see Amanda Marcotte saying something like that or writing a book about Mary Pinchot? People on the right should not write Nina off as a "knees jerk" reaction. She is interesting.

If you believe that Hoover and LBJ killed Kennedy, you might as well believe he was killed by people from outer space who didn't like Kennedy's moon-landing plan. There are, after all, many first hand reports of space people who are hostile to mankind.

I believe JFK got away with an awful lot that we'll never know about, but I would need more corroboration than Leary's word on this.......I have heard that JFK negotiated the Cuban Missle Crisis while being administered cocaine $ amphetamine cocktails by Dr. Feelgood. I wonder how long it will take for JFK to find his proper place in history.

LBJ: NO! We need to kill him. I have come up with a great plan! It involves a commie ex-marine and some black ops guys. We'll trick this ex-marine into shooting at Kennedy but he'll miss and our black ops will shoot him instead. And the best thing? We'll do it in the middle of a fucking parade in Dallas. Thousands of witnesses, God only know how many of them will have cameras, or what they might see.
Hoover: "You are a genius!" (stands and clicks heels, makes a Hitler salute) "Heil, President Johnson!"

Bob Wills knew Jack Ruby. Sold him a ranch. Hank Williams knew Bob Wills (of course, they were old pals from their Texarkana night club days). Williams was addicted to pain pills. So was Kennedy. Williams spend WW2 working at a shipyard in Alabama. That same shipyard produced a certain boat -- the PT 109 -- that Kennedy commanded in WW2. The PT 109 was attacked by a Jap sub. Wonder how the Japs knew the PT 109 was there? Like maybe a homing device was built into it at the shipyard?
How did Williams die, anyhow? Perfectly healthy when he got into the car, dead a few hours later.

It REALLY makes one wonder how a slutty, drug-addled weakling like JFK got this insane aura around him. Camelot seems like the most asinine time ever.

Kennedy was killed by a man named Lee Harvey Oswald, a communist who was upset over Kennedy's treatment of Castro.

Yeah, that seems most plausible.

Conspiracy theorists can easily point out all of the really odd parts of the official explanation --- but they are never able to generate an ALTERNATE explanation. That, to me, is key. I can point to flaws in any explanation. But if I cannot provide a credible alternative, then the official one is the still the most likely scenario. There are "flaws" because recreating somebody perfectly is exceptionally difficult.

Was there a gunmen on the knoll? Seems odd the Secret Service wasn't searching for one after 4 shots. None of them acted as if the attack came from the front. The Secret Service, even after their embarrassments the last 8 years, are good at figuring out where an attack is coming from really quickly.

Was Oswald a really good marksman? Seems he really wasn't that great. And his rifle may have had a bad sight. Doesn't mean that shooting a very slow moving target is impossible. Difficult, maybe. Impossible? No.

That's the unchanging left for you, always thinking unilaterally without a care for what the Soviets may have been up to. We see it today with their insistence on weakening only our side's resolve in international disputes.

You're assuming they had American concerns at the front of their thoughts. I do not have that assumption. Anybody advocating unilateral disarmament isn't seeking to strengthen anybody.

Sorry, if you believe Timothy Leary's account then, well, you really need help.

Meyer was murdered, in all likelihood, by a serial murderer and criminal by the name of Ray Crump. Crump was charged with the murder but not convicted. He later went on to rape and assault other women. A really evil man. It had nothing to do with JFK or the assassination.

One interesting aspect of this is that the then associate publisher of the Washington Post, Phillip Graham, revealed this affair - along with others that JFK had - in a rambling speech before a group of newspaper editors in January of 1963. Graham later committed suicide in August of '63.
