I'm traveling to the belly of the beast (Hollywood) to fill my belly at a feast. I'm just biding my time until we leave.

Weare leaving at Noon to drive out to Lake Oconee. All we have to bring is wine and Pecan pie with lots of cool whip, so there isn't any cooking for us either. And the son takes up our ipads when we walk in, so that's all folks.

How about the choice of "I'm just sitting on my ass while the women cook"?

I live in Germany, and it's not a holiday here.

The rest of my family is bound and gagged in the basement.

Because Thanksgiving in Canada was on October 12!

Also, you have Canadian readers...

I haven't just been reading blogs.

For instance, the leaked Instagram photo of Charlotte McKinney showing her asshole wasn't on a blog.

Perspective.

I am Laslo.

HappyThanksgiving! About to move from warm comfortable bed (with dog and cat and IPad) to breakfast nook with kiddies and Bay Area Gal. No more comments - it's Thanksgiving! ( unless football gets boring)

My wife is getting paid double time working today in a medical facility, so I'm getting some work/blog-commenting done too.

It's not Thanksgiving where I live. I hoped to go to Buffalo to celebrate with my sister, but illness in her husband's family caused them to go to Cleveland, so I went to work as though it were a normal day (like it is for everyone around me).

Hello to the nonAmerican readers. I hope option 2 is capacious enough. On all of them you might feel there's something a bit not quite apt. Like "much-needed" break. You may be taking a break but not really need it that much. Or everyone else is on their devices... could be a good answer even if one person is playing with nonelectrical toys.

Enjoy your annual commemoration of genocidal slaughter everyone!

And, there goes Uncle garage, conflating animal rights with human rights again.

According to mahalian logic, that's a double microagression against Native Americans.

A 5K run, turkey cooked and resting, stuffing, squash and green bean casserole in the oven, potatoes boiling on the stove. Just waiting for things to finish.

Happy Thanksgiving Althousians!

Everybody's here - brother, wife, nephew, his wife, dogs - and everyone is on a device except the dogs.

Who are chasing the squirrel devices in the backyard.

Why GM, why?

The turkey has been in the oven 2 hours and the veggies are being peeled. I've already written one blog post and the children (mid 30s to 40s), will be here later in the day. Dinner about 4. Taking a break.

Too bad about moderation but I come by every few hours.

Ann, it's Thanksgiving. Why are you blogging?

A) It is what I do regardless of the holiday.

B) I have nothing better to do.

C) I can multi-task, so why not.

D) I love Obama and can't wait to vote for Hillary and piss off all of the right wing wackos like Ipso Fatso that infect this blog with stupid comments.

I pick D.

It will be interesting to see when comments stop appearing because Thanksgiving has started in the Althouse home.

"Ann, it's Thanksgiving. Why are you blogging?"

First post of the day already told you. I don't celebrate holidays. I think all days are equally holy.

You left out, "I really like this blog."

Due to various logistical issues, the big family feast doesn't happen until Saturday for us. So nothing much shaking today. The missus and I went on a lovely bike ride.

oleh said...

I am on the scrapper, taking a much needed break. Might poop, might not.

Ann Althouse said...

I wish we could go for a bike ride. It's warm today but it's too wet.

I am a Canadian. We already had our Thanksgiving, and our election, last month. Now all we have to do is worry about American politics.

Unfortunately, I fell ill yesterday and had to cancel my Thanksgiving trip to see family. But I'd be reading Althouse regardless.

Just finished Thanksgiving supper (which is when we do the big turkey dinner at this house). Wife was teaching son who wants to learn how to cook turkey while other son was on the phone needing advice on preparing stuffing per grandmother's recipe for a multi-family get together out on the left coast. I took advantage of the 60 degree weather here in Northern Virginia to touch up paint outside and make sure we are fully winterized. I only went into the kitchen to move the turkey onto its platter, carry platter to table, carve, and eat. More than that I'd have been underfoot.

oleh said...

You try to write crapper and then the auto -correct has its way with you. I did poop by the way.

Sydney said...

Because dinner has been eaten, the dishes washed, the leftovers put away, and the rest of the family is playing Risk.

Big Mike said...

And now I've just finished washing the last of the Thanksgiving pots and pans, plus any utensils that can't go into the diswasher. Let no one say that husbands do not have a role to play in Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a great American holiday. And I am thankful for Althouse, Meade & the commentariat.

As for the day - about 15 of us- Turkey, stuffing, green beans with bacon, Brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce - pumpkin, apple & pecan pies - 1 beer - watch football - take kids and nephews to park to play football, walk the dog, take family pic for Christmas cards, not too much argument re politics - text to best friends in Cleveland (6 kids) and Berkeley (3 kids) - nice phone call with Dad, that's about it. Pretty much all I need. Much gratitude.
