Everybody's running for President.

This will have to do. I can't post every time anybody announces they're running.

It would really be something if due to robust fundraising all 20 or so GOP candidates somehow managed to stay about even in the polls and each win just enough delegates in the primaries that they enter a truly contested convention. It would more than make up for the insipid tedium going on in the Democratic party right now as they prepare for a coronation.

Vote for the guy who talks to low information voters without lying to them.

Lincoln Chafee running on a platform of converting us to the metric system seems to be more in the nature of a comment on the present process than actually running.

Chafee is the perfect Democrat candidate. He is all about nothing important.

Smugness, thy name is Baby Boomers.

The next generation has some intelligence that far surpasses the Clinton. Kerrys . Chafees. and Sanders. The GOP is welcoming that truth but the Dems are stuck on stupid.

The only way Clinton, who is Boomer stupid, can win is if she runs against Boomer stupid JEB Bush. That fact is the only reason JEB has the press on his side. He is terminally stupid enough to make Hillary look smart.

I think that for an old pol it's probably a fun way to hang out and have some fun on someone else's money for a couple years.

Then maybe they can land a cabinet post, ambassadorship, or at least a teaching gig at a nice university somewhere.

Win-win.

I think perhaps you should post when someone says definitively that he or she is NOT running for president.

For example, is Meade in or out??? This burning question has not been settled.

On the one hand, if Meade were to run I would think that the organic garden at the WH created by importing new lead-free soil by the truckload would wind up in much better hands. On the other hand, what would become of the flora in WI, and would you have to cut back on your class schedule.

How about having a powerball lotto where each ticket is $1000 and the winner gets to be president. A $1000 a ticket should keep most of the riffraff out of the possible pool of the potential winner. No FEC waste of taxpayer monies, no graft and the pool of money can be directed to something useful such as medical research. A winner under such a scheme cannot possibly be any worse than what we have now and maybe a lot better.

The current incumbent has set the bar so low that almost anyone can say they would be a vast improvement over Obama. Since you voted for him in 2008, the many announcements of potential presidential contenders could be thought of as "just deserts".

Where is a man like General Sherman when you need so many of him?
