"Paternity Case for a New Jersey Mother of Twins Bears Unexpected Results: Two Fathers."

An interesting story which I only started reading because I thought it was about bears.
The case took root when the mother, identified only as T.M., told the Passaic County Board of Social Services in the course of applying for benefits that A.S., her romantic partner, had fathered her twins, The Law Journal reported. The board, in turn, filed an application to establish his paternity and force him to pay child support for the twins, born in January 2013.

But the woman’s claim slowly fell apart. She revealed in testimony that she had had sex with a second, unidentified man within a week of having sex with her romantic partner. A paternity test was ordered....

That is a very confusing headline.

'Twin Bears'

I bet >50% of all readers see it that way.

How is this possible? We know women don't lie about sex, so there must be some mistake.

I also read "twin bears," and I thought, "Why would a bear want a paternity test. In New Jersey?"

Two fathers. One whore.

So fraternal twins, made complicated because we tossed out monogamy.

I eagerly await the first case of half-sibling triplets.

Our unofficial family history has a story like this, of some great-great something aunt from right after the war. One twin was cocoa-brown, the other twin was fair haired, green eyes. I forget from which branch our group descended.

Twin bears...

That's a story I can get behind!!

This must not be all that uncommon. I can remember a photograph in one of my medical school text books of twins who were of different races because they had different fathers. It happens.

I thought it was about bears as well.

Superfecundation?

Sounds like a George Clinton album.

This would be a perfect Jerry Springer show, except for the fact that it's real.

I read it as Twin Bears also.

I'm not surprised one little bit.

Back where I come from, everyone knows that bears have all the morals of a tom cat.

Interesting that a paternity test wasn't ordered until the second candidate showed up. They apparently were willing to take her word for it prior.

But this one guy was the father of one of twins, they were in a sexual relationship. So how did her story "fall apart"? What tripped her up?

The article makes it sound like she had a bout of honesty. However, you never know if that happened due to some innate morals, or if the identified father made clear that he was going to contest paternity. ( Either based on his knowledge of her behavior, or based on the appearance of the children. )

Jim in St. Louis,

" I forget from which branch our group descended".

Really, ??? You remember all the specifics except the one detail with the color?>>>???

The answer is you come from the brown side... 90%... 10% you came from the "cocoa-brown side."

An interracial couple can have children with quite different shades of skin color, so they may presumably also have fraternal twins of different colorings.
Let's don't jump to concussions if this happens to someone you know!

Ya know....in this day and age a woman without contraceptives is premeditated conception. She's also not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

The birth control pills in your purse are useless.

Unidentified because she can't remember or because she won't reveal him? I'd think the case won't be resolved until that issue is solved.

A waitress asked me long ago whether I wanted nuts on my chocloate fudge sundae.

"That would be superfetatious," I said.

So she didn't put nuts on.

From what I know, it seems that lack of genetic paternity is ignored by the state which wants its pound of flesh. That may vary with state law.

So the second guy was her "unromantic" sperm donor? The mind reels.

clint said...

The real news here is that the court actually let the guy off the hook for child support when it discovered he wasn't the biological father.

Lots of cases of courts ordering non-fathers to pay paternity anyway, for the good of the child.

Obviously both fathers need to be punished for taking advantage of this woman, so I say both fathers should be forced to pay child support for both kids.

Cuckold has an interesting etymology in a Cocoa-Puffs sort of way. But is it cuckoldry if no marriage was involved?

An amoral, opportunistic behavioral code creates situations with perhaps not immediate, but progressive consequences. It's no wonder that religion or moral philosophy is the first victim in secular societies. It's no wonder that sacrificial rites are a sincerely favored practice in liberal societies.

That said, it seems evident that character is an innate quality that may be influenced or corrupted through external stimuli. Perhaps that's just a fact of reality that cannot be overcome. Still, both abortion and trans relationships seem like evil solutions to an "evil problem". Specifically, the inability of some individuals to self-moderate their behavior.

Oh, well. Let's normalize that because a minority seem intent to prosecute the experiment to its bitter end.

It seems like they're more like half-siblings than twins, but my dictionary defines twins as "born at the same time to the same mother", so I guess it still counts.

Doesn't seem quite right though.

So all twins who are not identical raise questions now?

I recall a case in Germany where a white German woman had twins by two different men. 1 child was black and the other white, just as were the two fathers.

She's not a slut, like your mother she just had the disadvantages of being born in New Jersey.

Trans-formative. Forward!

Or spontaneous conception, for that matter. The "big bang" of human reproduction, when a corporate asset (e.g. [wholly innocent] human life, clump of [differentiated] cells) can be aborted for light, casual, and profitable causes.
