Happy New Year!

I'm up at 6 a.m., so you can imagine the kind of New Year's Eve revelry that took place at Meadhouse.

I live by days, but I acknowledge years. I hope 2015 is a good one.

ADDED: A year ago, on New Year's Day morning, I was up a 5 a.m., and the message was the same in so many words:
Happy New Year. Yes, I'm up early. To bed early and up early.

It's the way of the old, but I'm glad to be old — old and alive here on Planet Earth, with all you other Earthlings, young and old, who have made it this far....

Big game in Tampa. My condo's on the line between Macdil and the stadium. I cant remember if they fly planes over the Outback Bowl. They sure do for the Super Bowls. When they started the Outback it was the only ESPN game and they kicked off early to get a jump on the others. Now they're all cable games just about.
Espn sure pulled off a neat trick there. I dont get cable so the whole thing's some kinda trust needs busting. But I get on a rant about it and I just get looked at funny.

If you're going to watch 16+ hours of football (of multiple kinds) you have to start early.

Stoke is ahead of ManU? Gracious.

A new year, and anything is possible.

I was in bed at 12:30am and up at 6:30am. Not too early. Happy New Year's Annie and Meade and family.

Have a great new year. Like my 83 year old mother says, "Nothing good ever comes after midnight."

I beat you. Up at 3:45 and off to work. I had to start a little early because our freak Southern California snowstorm yesterday made the roads a little dicey. I haven't driven in snow for thirty-two years, but the plows had actually done a pretty good job by this morning.

Happy New Year!

Could this Saturday, January Third, be the Wedding Day for Charles Manson?

"The marriage license obtained Monday by the Associated Press was issued Nov. 7 for the 80-year-old Manson and Afton Elaine Burton, who left her Midwestern home nine years ago and moved to Corcoran, California — the site of the prison — to be near Manson. She maintains several websites advocating for his innocence.

The license does not specify a wedding date and indicates the couple has 90 days to get married or they will have to reapply."

"Burton said the prison holds marriages on the first Saturday of each month. She expects to be married in an inmate visiting room at the prison."

Helter Skelter in 2015, people.

I am Laslo.

Afton Elaine Burton is obviously well above the crazy line in the "Hot, Crazy Matrix."

Hawks have taken up residence in one of our trees. They are up early, looking for prey, calling to each other. Their calls are piercing and powerful. I hear the signal and response as I sleepily prepare my coffee and get set to walk the dogs. We make our way on the ground, while their cries cleave the morning air and somehow reach us.

Happy New Year Professor as well.

I was in bed by Quaker midnight. (10 pm)and up at 5 EST.

You aren't old until you give up on an adventurous life, i.e. when all you want to do is sit in a chair and not even read. (TV optional)

We switched channels between Dick Clark's Rocking New Years Eve and the Orange Bowl.

The Times Square announcer were convinced everybody standing around in the cold were "having the most fun of their entire lives."

We kept watching the Orange Bowl award ceremony, because that is the first time in their entire lives Georgia Tech won the Orange Bowl.

Oh once mighty SEC... how far thou hast fallen.

Happy New Year to both the residents of Meadehouse and the blog commentariat!. May all our 2015 discussions be based cultural amusement and none on dread events.

Happy New Year Meadhouse.

Budbrown- do you mean you bet your condo on the outcome of the Outback Bowl? If so, who'd you bet on? A friend of mine's son plays for Auburn- if you bet on Auburn, I will ask him to add some prayers for your bet.

Happy New Year in the lower Rio Grande Valley. Low 40’s rain wind and fog was no deterrence to the locals. Amazing half hour non-stop roar of fireworks and semi-auto gun pops. I was tempted load the 12 gauge Beretta and join in, but wife and dog would not happy. You can take Mexicans out of Mexico but you can’t take Mexico out of Mexicans.

A Cast Of Hawks

I was thinking of the lawprof being up early, surveying the blogosphere for prey, and became inspired to write about the hawks a little more.

Happy New Year from Fort Worth! It's cold and rainy here--just at the edge of freezing. We're happy that TCU won the Peach Bowl yesterday and vindicated the tattered reputation of the (10-team) Big 12. About to watch the Cotton Bowl to see if Baylor can get another Big 12 win against Michigan State from the (14-team) Big 10.

For morning people New Years is not at midnight but at sunrise.

I have the feeling that while perhaps not spectacular, that it'll be pretty good. I had a strong feeling that the 90s would be incredible, and they were. It wasn't just my then-youth either because I had not had that feeling previously and we were in the early-Gen X-hitting-the workplace recession at the time.

Yes, Phil 3:14, I was up at dawn, walking in the unusual (for Eugene) and thus very cold lower 20s, and thought about late nights on 31sts long past. As you say, this is the new year.
