"Gov. Scott Walker has not been a target of the John Doe investigation into alleged illegal campaign finance coordination..."

"... an attorney for the special prosecutor overseeing the probe said Thursday.
Randall Crocker, the lawyer for special prosecutor Francis Schmitz, noted the investigation has been halted, saying, "At the time the investigation was halted, Governor Walker was not a target of the investigation. At no time has he been served with a subpoena."

Crocker issued the statement a week after a court document Schmitz wrote late last year and made public late last week identified Walker as being part of an alleged "criminal scheme" to coordinate with outside groups and violate campaign finance laws.

Crocker said no conclusions have been made about whether there is enough evidence to charge anyone with a crime.
Let's see if this is noticed by all the news media outlets that said that the prosecution had "accused" Walker or "alleged" that he was at the center of a criminal scheme.

ADDED: Walker's opponent in the fall election, Mary Burke, just put out an ad today that begins "Prosecutors in Wisconsin are alleging that Governor Scott Walker participated in a criminal scheme..."

The ad also criticizes Walker for "launching more attack ads," and we see a bit of Walker's ad. Here's the whole Walker ad:

Both ads attack the opposing candidate, but Walker's ad has a somewhat comical feeling to it with the sprightly music and blackjack table imagery. Burke's ad is news clips and that all-purpose tinkling piano music.

You're such a kidder.

Why does a special prosecutor have a lawyer speak for him? Does that lawyer also have a lawyer?

"Attack ad" is a term of art that can only be applied to republican ads. Democrat ads just tell truths the opponent doesn't want told.

Mission accomplished.

Also, Gov. Walker was not under investigation for possession of PCP, beating up a prostitute, or pedophilia.

So lead prosecutor maybe not so RINO-y after all?

It's not a LIEbrul witch hunt by filthy fifth columnists?

Not FULL FASCISM?

Why didn't/doesn't Walker just come out and say he isn't a part of the investigation and he wasn't coordinating illegally with any groups?

Big Mike said...

@Althouse, why would an honest and honorable person such as yourself even want to associate with any Wisconsin Democrats these days? People are known by the company they keep, you know.

who-knew said...

They should run it as a correction to their earlier stories and with just as prominent play. Won't happen.

So, mission accomplished, eh lefties? You've got your lie halfway around the world before the truth could put on it's shoes.

Why don't you just come out and say you don't fellate farm animals, garage?

So. Wait. I thought he was going to be indicted any day.

Garage: "Why didn't/doesn't Walker just come out and say he isn't a part of the investigation and he wasn't coordinating illegally with any groups?"

Because he knows that people like you will call him a liar anyway?

"Why didn't/doesn't Walker just come out and say he isn't a part of the investigation and he wasn't coordinating illegally with any groups?"

Why didn't/don't you just ask him instead of sentence first — verdict [indict] afterwards?

"Why didn't/doesn't Walker just come out and say he isn't a part of the investigation and he wasn't coordinating illegally with any groups?"

Well, let's see.

On 1, he'd have no way of knowing if he wasn't being investigated without them telling him, and if he guessed wrong you'd call him a liar and say that proved he was guilty.

And of course, "involved in the investigation" is something he would be if he ever answered a question about someone else.

So maybe you mean "a target of the investigation", but go back to the above point.

As for denying it, why bother?

You'd just say he was lying, his partisans already believe he's innocent [and the evidence seems far stronger on his side], and the disinterested middle tends to read denials as guilt.

So you're demanding he do something pointless that makes him look bad to casual observers even while the prosecutor is saying he wasn't targeted...

Classy.

Because he is prohibited under John Doe law Corky.

So now your 0-2.

Time to go after that grifter John Chisolm. How awesome would it be for him to spend a little jail time with some folks he put away...then he might feel what his victims felt like when he fucked them in the ass.

garage has sworn to tell the truth.

Harry Reid has been accused of child abuse. I haven't heard of him denying it.

If the MSM were in the News Business it would be reported, but since they are in the Narrative-Crafting Business this falls outside of their purview.

Whoever Walker is using for ads has a great sense of humor in addition to real creative flair. Burke seems to have little to advertise and when she does she gets hammered. Walker is being smart in not letting Burke have any freebies during the summer. She's going to run out of her own money soon Then what?

Hmm, I don't know, he's running for governor and voters might care?

traditionalguy said...

MSNBC's Crime Report said Christy's Bridgegate is indentical criminality by a criminal Governor who ordered crimes committed by his criminal staff and then criminally covered it up.

So Criminal Christy must be relieved to hear Walker got away with it.

Garage, why don't you care about abuse of power and process? Why do you put your own political interests and biases ahead of principles of law and ethical journalism?

I do. Hopefully the state chooses a different path come November.

I think this qualifies as slander.

Because he is prohibited under John Doe law Corky.

So he is part of the investigation. Sheesh! 4 more years of this will be totes awesome.

The only real question is by how much does Burke lose by in November.

Original Mike said...Why don't you just come out and say you don't fellate farm animals, garage?

Now now Mike, just because garage mahal may be involved in an investigation into frequent acts of bestiality doesn't mean he's the target of that investigation. Remember too that at least a few of the prosecutors who strongly imply garage's zoophilia are from the same political party as him, so there's no reason to think the investigation is in any way improper. Let's just let all the facts come out before jumping to conclusions here--and anyway are goats really considered farm animals?

John Chisolm needs to be behind bars.

http://watchdog.org/156447/kelly-rindfleisch-conservatives-john-doe/

The fucker sat on the Veteran's Fund issue for over a year and half and waited until the day before the election to pounce.

“Their goal from the very start was to get to Scott Walker,”

Yeah dude, you guys do have all the fucking weirdos. If this is another invite, the answer is still no.

Drago said...

The point is that some on the left are already speaking of this as an actual finding of the courts against Walker.

The truth is irrelevant.

It's like Crack "forgetting" to mention trayvon (The Innocent) was sitting on top of Zimmerman and pummeling him "MMA style".

Truth gets in the way of the left achieving its goals.

Thus, Truth must go.

Did they leave off that "some say" that Scott Walker "might be an axe murderer"?

I always despised Katie Couric, but never more than when she'd do her nasal "some say" BS.

Who, apparently, is right as rain.

Burke's ad is also a lie. No prosecutor is alleging that Walker participated in a criminal scheme. In fact, "prosecutors" are not "alleging" anything anymore, because the investigation has been shut down.

As an outsider. From a state, I might add, where political corruption is a spectator sport. I find it hilarious that Walker is living in garages head rent free and that he,garage, is getting quite adept at moving those heavy goal posts.
garage is no longer a political commentator, but the foole, complete with harlequin and pointy hat, of Althouse blog.

Any one who cares about the case knows that he's not the target of the investigation, and would not need him to say so. Only people who don't care would need him to say anything, and frankly, they'd probably just be confused: "Wait, so he's not being targeted by the investigation the prosecutors say he isn't being targeted by?"
