When, according to Chief Justice Roberts, are you required to wear cowboy boots to a Supreme Court oral argument?

When you are representing the state of Texas.

ADDED: What this post is really about....

My aversion to discussing the strenuous blabbing everywhere out there about the "government shutdown."

The "strenuous blabbing" is pretty much a giant squirrel to distract attention from and avoid reporting on all the other things going wrong for this administration - at home and abroad, so I am with you, Madame.

Agreed, Ann and Hagar.

Let's talk instead about how the IPCC and various governments are negotiating this week -- behind closed doors -- the "settled science" of global warming to serve their own purposes.

Or Lois Lerner's retirement from the IRS, which coincides with the IRS's partial settlement with True the Vote.

I get the meme that Cruz must now be destroyed or Alinsky'd but getting cheap shots from the wrong people isn't going to help.

So CJ Rehnquist was a 'stickler for attire'? With those silly stripes on his judicial robe? And, anyway, it would have been hard for the judges to see an attorney's footware from the bench -- especially if yours is the first case up, and you're already sitting at counsel table facing the bench. Cruz should have just gone full-Texan and found out whether Rehnquist, with his Arizona/Stanford background, would have made a fuss. Cruz could hardly have done worse that 9-0, even though he didn't know it at the time.

Ted Cruz may be a humble bragger, but the example the article gives is not evidence of it.

He's standing in for Sarah Palin; they think he's a better target. (Jest oneathem crazy Texans!)

The only thing the article does without being explicit is contrasting Cruz with Obama and without the author's intent Obama is the lightweight.

apparently the guy the WashPost quoted saying Cruz refused to study with lesser mortals recently was disbarred for fraud.

this is just another hit piece by mainstreammedia on a conservative. they do this sort of thing regularly.

professor, i would expect your normal skepticism to save you from this sort of sloppy hit.
