"Wendy Davis is a trendsetter, like Carrie of ‘Sex and the City’ making Manolos a household name."

"This time, it’s Mizuno, and this time the shoe is for comfort, not sexiness."

Says the fashion editor. The shoe company's PR person says: "We love seeing our running shoes on all consumers, regardless of their political affiliation or beliefs."

Here's the shoe, Wave Rider 16 running shoe, now the #1-selling women's running shoe at Amazon.

For all the talk of Wendy Davis's pink shoes, the color is "Rouge Red."

Like Satan! Except Satan disavows!

Just what we need. More evidence of the triviality of females. For this nonsense to spring out of a filibuster to allow on demand/whim abortions at six months of pregnancy.

The future of the human race is in the best of hands.

Who says women can't be pretty, stylish, smart and deadly?

Meade said...

Pink... rouge... red, whatever.

What I want to know is: How can we be sure the leather in Mizuno Wave Rider 16's doesn't come from the skins of 26 week-old fetuses?

Who are Wendy Davis, Carrie, and Manolos?

Oh. Another link to the irrelevant NYT. Shoulda known.

Be like Wendy. Wear a catheter. Promote murder.

It's rouge red just like it's pizza pie. get it?

Some women are deadly, others are deadly tedious.

I think dog food is more likely.

Any objections, liberals? What if your dog likes it?

That Mizuno symbol looks like a roadrunner.

I'm guessing a lot of money goes into things like that.

Coathangers aren't branded like running shoes, so far as I know.

A silhouette of a baby, in a circle, with a diagonal line through it, would be going too far.

Saint Croix said...

I was just joking about dog food. At least, I thought I was...

From CNN

"The remains of aborted fetuses were stored in water jugs, pet food containers and a freezer at a West Philadelphia abortion clinic..."

Mizuno Rouge Red is people!

Moral of this story-- Modern Feminists are just women who prefer style to substance. If they would bother their pretty little heads about something other than 'cute shoes!' and 'Sex!!!', they'd quickly become libertarians or conservatives.

Conservative Women are allowed to be smart and pretty at the same time. Feminists have to pick one or the other.....

Lefties are lemmings.

There's a shock.

Who was it called Conservatives here Althouse lemmings?

Fashion and Fascism: A Love Story

See also the black robes of the United States Supreme Court! Judges dress that way to suggest they speak for God. So in our secular society, why do our judges continue to wear these mystical black robes?

So we might worship the state?

Now that took me from Satan to The Shining.

Not sure if the nail polish is "Rouge Red," but it's definitely redrum.

Wendy Davis is a trendsetter

Yes!

Never mind that this Lilly white walking colagen injection wants to kill a bunch of black and brown babies, she's got shoes, man!

These people (like the author) are arrested development adolescents and I wish they would go away.

"this Lily white walking collagen injection"

Jay, that is one of the best insults I've ever heard, especially since all the Lefties (one in particular) were oohing and ahhing over her looks.

A little late to the trend. My daughters used Mizuno products 5 years ago when they played softball. Shoes, gloves, bats, etc...

Point of information: Mizunos are way better for women's feet than Manolos. Cost less, too.

@Freeman, I'm guessing that's your young-un?

How long until off-brand Crocs are discovered at $8.99?

They're no good for uneven ground, is all.

I am so ashamed this human is being thrust upon the national stage "representing" the rest of Texas women.

I'm even more ashamed for my female friends who think she and her baby pink sneakers are super awesome.

Curious how the makers of Mizunos feel about having their brand hijacked.

It is getting harder to hold my head up as a woman. Trending running shoes as a symbol for baby butchery. Egads.

Or, as someone noted in a comment Instapundit picked up, she is the new Cindy Sheehan.

All fashion, all image, all the time.

Substance, character, important ideas ...

You read this tripe and then read the Declaration of Independence and preamble to the US Constitution and you wonder when the fluff became the ideal.

Pink sneakers. Oh whoopity doo!!!11!!

Kill an almost viable person. No shit, too bad. Break a few eggs on the way to Washington.

@ Big Mike -- I was thinking it was Freeman (a couple years ago).

Elle, I agree. I see this as part of the larger strategy to turn Texas blue, as at least two long reports on NPR noted in recent days.

Turn Texas blue? Bawhahahahahaha.

Sisyphus had an easier task.

Sometime in the 90s, I think.

Texas actually voted for Carter. It hasn't been "red" all that long. And if Michigan and California movers keep it up, we just might go back to "blue".

God forbid.

Might be time to build a fence around the entire state.

Michigan and California my ass, it's Coahuila and Tamaulipas that concerns me!

Women should never have been able to vote. Terrible mistake in my opinion.

Or at the very least, there should have been some sort of test they need to take before individuals were deemed capable of sufferage.

Oh shit, I've been wearing Mizunos for 5 years at least. Didn't read the article. Don't have to , she's not a trendsetter. I think I first came across them because of some celebrity mention in Shape magazine. My sister hooked into them two years - my previous enthusiasms falling on deaf ears.

LOVE MIZUNOS. They are not quite as good as they used to be. In the past, they made them with even pointier elfie toes which allowed the perfect fit for my toes without it looking like a boat shoe.

They are the only ones that fit. I spent an hour in a New Balance store once looking for a good fit. Not to be had.

I blow through them pretty quickly, but...

I hope all of you don't get on the bandwagon and ruin my shoes. :)

High school girls wear them for soccer as well.
