Death on death row... by natural causes.

Night comes for the Night Stalker.

We're all cowards and there's an evolutionary explanation, probably.

53-year-olds don't die of "natural causes." I wonder what the real story is.

Couldn't have been a full-flavored woman.

And, regardless, I hope he took his asbestos drawers with him.

"Ramirez fled. Residents of an east Los Angeles neighborhood, though, spotted him trying to steal two cars, caught and subdued him, then held him down until police arrived."

"died of natural causes", not soon enough.

Should have let those people in Bolivia have a crack at him.

One woman who sat through his trial, thinking he was innocent, then wrote him dozens of letters and visited him in prison. It was there, in 1996, that the two married.

After his trial, I predict will happen to the cherubic Boston Bomber.

A heart attack is natural.

A heart attack is natural.

A fatal heart attack at that age is still quite rare unless the person has a prior history of heart disease. There's no evidence that Ramirez had any such history. And even if it were the case, why don't the news reports say so?

I hope he is doing the slow roast.

I lived in So Cal when he was running amok. In a light colored house, three doors from a freeway. We and everyone else were nervous to say the least.

It is absurd that he was allowed to die of natural causes, there was no doubt of his guilt. He was evil incarnate.

BTW, myocardial infarct in a 53 yr old is not as rare as you might think, especially for someone on death row. It is a very sedentary lifestyle, especially if one does not want to do cardio in a tiny cell.

I just hope that dippy bitch that he married feels terrible and jumps off of a bridge before she does something even more stupid.

Good riddance.

His last victim was admitted to our trauma center in Mission Viejo and survived with brain injuries. Ramirez would find a house where a couple was having sex and watch them, then go in and rape the woman and kill the man.

There were a series of similar murders earlier than his rampage that were never solved. One was in Santa Barbara and one was in Orange County. The same MO was believed to be the link.

There is a report talking about liver disease.
Cancer?
Hepatitis?

I'm pretty sure you can't drink yourself to death while sitting on death row.

All things are possible if you reside in the Baltimore jail Ask former Mayor, now Governor (D) O'Malley. Democratic Public Employee Unions have absolute control of the workplace...

Two points. The Chinese could probably help us with guys like Ramirez once they stopped laughing at the stupid Americans who won't deal with criminals.

The murders MichaelK refers to were committed by a serial rapist/murderer who began his career in Sacramento. LA Magazine recently did a story on him. Known originally as the East Area Rapist he offended in Sacramento, Stockton, Davis, Modesto and the Bay Area. Moving to SoCal he he became the Original Night Stalker murdering 10 people. The crimes were eventually connected by DNA. This guy is the most prolific serial criminal in California, he remains unidentified and unapprehended. Google EAR/ONS or GSK?

San Francisco police recovered a footprint of an unusual shoe at a crime scene.

Diane Feinstein was mayor of S.F. at the time.

Against police wishes, she went on TV, spilled the beans, and showed an example of the shoe.

Ramirez changed his shoes and headed back to Southern California.

Why didn't they execute him? I know about appeals and habeas corpus and all that, but 24 years?!

glenn, the Offerman murders were an orthopedic surgeon who was divorced from his wife. His ex-wife, a friend of my ex-wife, was a suspect for a while. The Harrington murders were committed in a gated community and a home owned by his parents. Both appeared to involve a peeper who then went in and raped the women.

They were never solved.

Michael. Both the Offerman and Harrington murders were connected by DNA to the the NorCal crimes of the East Area Rapist. You are absolutely right, the perp remains unidentified. And several jurisdictions have active cold case files. Check the LA Magazine story that is online. EAR offended twice in Stockton. The husband in the first Stockton attack is a friend of mine. While both husband and wife survived the marriage didn't. This guy was clever and well organized, he offended at will and was never identified. I routinely post info and links about the case whenever there is a story like this. He needs to be identified and if alive brought to justice.
