Fat chance. It is going to be lucky if we get to 20 degrees as the high for the next 8 days. When it does melt, it will be all at once and then it will flood and create a muddy soupy sloppy mess.

Yay winter!!

It can't melt fast enough here (I know, heresy) since The Blonde is scared purple of falling (I have once already).

Kid brought a realistic toy gun to class this morning. Looked real, just small and tiny. Took it away from him and had our Glock & Taser armed on site police officer come by and pick it up. The kids thought it was funny-ish. Gave them a story talk about the time the class room next to mine in an open concept school was shot up by a bullied student with a Clint type hand cannon (.357 cal Magnum). All were dutifully impressed. Most of them have seen guns fired in anger. Then back to the Judicial Branch. Now THAT was the tough part of the class. They have a hard time differentiating the respective powers between the three branches of Givernment.

Ah yes, but of course!

Otherwise, wasn't it completely obvious RGIII was incapacitated by his injury mid-way through the 2nd quarter?

And isn't it equally obvious Mike Shanahan is an idiot for not subbing RGIII out for Cousins? And what the hell made the Redskins' coaching staff forget they had one the league's best running backs?

If the Seahawks win the Super Bowl, they'll need to vote a players share of the winnings to the replacement refs and to Mike and Kyle Shanahan.

I just now watched Caso Cerrado (Case Closed) one of those peoples' courts that's easy to avoid. And man, oh man, oh man, are they ever softening up the space for a national discussion on gun control. Nobody does 'pull the heartstrings' like Latinos and that's a fact. They're shameless.

A boy comes in the judge asks his age and he says twelve. Then oddly she asks which language he feels more comfortable and he answers English and they switch for him although he was doing just fine and now the judge becomes interpreter.

He says in English he loves his dad very much but he wants his life back.

The judge playing dumb asks, what does he mean 'back' he's standing right there alive.

The boy says he's tired of wearing a bulletproof vest to school.

His dad is actually making him do that and it's tearing the family apart !11!!1

Then ensues a very long discussion taking up most of the time with firearms experts on bullet calibers and the effectiveness of protective clothing. Weights of garments, alternatives, accessories like backpacks, the shame it has to be this way, the terrible horrible unspeakable shame of having so many guns with so many calibers out on the streets. They showed the jacket the boy would wear and it's ridiculous. They discussed cost and other details of protective garments while the boy stood there in silence in a pool of sadness, and then the moment everybody is waiting for the mention by the dad of the things that even Barack Obama wears for protection, yes, even Himself, the specific things that Barack Obama on high must deign to wear when Barack Obama makes his Barack Obama appearances because no family case is complete without Barack Obama there to settle everybody's attitudes like a deus ex machina descended there in spirit but by clumsy ropes and pulleys to bring peace about the courts on teevee and all throughout the land. And he always looks GREAT! even fully protected in impeccably tailored bulletproof clothing.

I know I shouldn't revel in it...but I AM!! All the stupid low information voters who re elected Obama are now whining when reality hits them right smack in the kisser....>POW!!! Your taxes are going up!!! Your paychecks are smaller....ha ha ha ha. Everything costs more! Boo hoo. Just wait until you have to either buy insurance to support everyone else or pay a fine for not having it. That little tidbit of reality hasn't sunk in yet.

I hope you all have to live on Top Ramen and get everything you own repossessed. You voted for this. Bend over and take it. Suffer you morons. You thought it was to stick it to someone else. Well....we are rubber and you are fucking clueless glue. Ha ha to infinity.

Elections have consequences and you now have yours.

The Niners are going to face a very different Green Bay team than they did in week one.

Of course, the Packers are going to face a very different San Francisco team than they did in week one.

Hopefully, it will be a good game. This week's games weren't much to watch.

So true: Idiot Obama voters ticked at Obama. One is provoked to wonder how much, if any, they'll learn from this. Expert opinion in the back of one's head says, "Nothing. Some people are too dumb to learn."

Expert opinion is always right!

A case of Diet Pepsi we had on a shelf in the garage exploded all over the place as it achieved frozenness over the weekend. The side of the car looks like...well, it looks bad, and we can't wash it off. All car washes closed until it thaws out a bit. Hot water freezes in the air before you can wash anything with it.

Hi Patrick,

Not trolling you here, so I ask these with all due respect ("some of my best friends" are Packer fans, lol!)

How much different are the Packers now from then?

The offensive line seems weak, still, especially on pass protection.

The running game, while good against Minnesota, doesn't seem daunting, especially against the SF front seven.

Rodgers is excellent, still. Did he gain a new weapon at wide out from what was in the stable in game one?

Defense? Woodson played in September; not too much impact, outside of a sack and a half.

Matthews had a very good day (2.5 sacks), but it was our LT's worst day as a pro. Staley's game is much better, so I don't expect Matthews will hurt us any more than he did in September.

And didn't you guys lose a NT? The guy who spells Raji? Raji gets tired; Gore gets stronger. If the game is close, or SF is ahead, late, advantage SF, I think.

Our biggest question marks are Justin Smith, Colin Kaepernick, David Akers and Greg Roman's play-calling. If the Niner coaches emphasize the run, out of the power formation, Niners win.

If they go stupid, like the 'Skins coaches did, you'll win.

As for an entertaining, "good game," uh, no.

I just want the win. I don't care how ugly it is, lol!

My sympathies.

The Blonde left an unopened can of soda in the car during a hot spell. Think puppies are the only thing that expire in a closed car sitting in the sun on a very hot day?

We're still trying to get the stains out.

And her line was, "Who would have thought it could happen?".

All I could do is remind her physics is a cruel mistress.

The one thing the Packers and the 49er's have in common is that the Giants kicked their asses this season.

Unfortunately the Giants got distracted and lost to a couple of teams like the Bengals and the Skins so we are out of the playoffs.

Plus it is all fixed anyway and the Trilateral Commission didn't want the Giants to win again so they shut off the micro chip in Eli's brain.

We will be back next year.

Kiss your car's paint job goodbye if you don't get that stuff off of it. Even if it is frozen. Heat your garage as best you can, pump house heaters, kerosene heater...something. Sponge it off as best you can.

Why do they torture us so?

Both San Fran and New Jersey need to up their world championship count in a big way to even be mentioned in the same conversation with the Green Bay Packers. I'm sorry if that sounds cocky.

I started reading Blood Meridian based on the recommendation of a couple of posters here, and well. it is good, but, don't you find the style a bit uneven, and the eschewment of quote marks? What is that about?

But the story, of a dark Huckleberry Finn is a good one so far, and I have to admit, it haunts my thoughts; that could be just the Flannery O'Conneresque grotesqueness of the imagery.

But if you want to read a real masterpiece of consistently brilliant literary rhetoric in a similar style, read Deadwood by Pete Dexter.

Not sure what to tell you. We're still hard after 90 years. Consistently.

The Packers were purchased by Curly Lambeau and some backers for $250. Isn't that crazy? You can't scalp one good seat in Lambeau Field with $250 today.

I doubted the early reports of miffed Obama voters upon seeing their own taxes increased, Jan 3 just seemed too soon to start noticing and complaining.

But now I don't doubt so much.

I think Lem suggested a long time ago I write something about Ramen and eventually I did. It's pretty good stuff especially when you jazz it up any number of ways. This page shows starting out with a package of Ramen and replacing all the elements so nothing of the original package remains for a much improved Ramen.

These pages do not get many views, it's an insignificant blog, but nonetheless this page zoomed past the rest with 612 recorded presently with no help that I recall. Blogger understates page views, they count only the ones that go directly to that page by naming it. It's a snarky rude page too, I don't know why it's favored.

Ok, I'll defer to your assessment on that, but await your break down.

Otherwise, for one of your illiterate, homophobic, trollish Packer compatriots (sorry, but he's your's, this way, lol!) it is notable how many Packers have California and 49er connections. From the Packers Dope Sheet::

NOTABLE CONNECTIONS
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was the 49ers offensive coordinator in 2005...Packers outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene played for the 49ers in 1997...Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo served as assistant offensive line coach/quality control for the 49ers in 2005...Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is from Chico, Calif., and played collegiately at Butte College in Oroville, Calif., and the University of California…Packers RB Alex Green also played at Butte College…Packers WR Jeremy Ross played at the University of California and attended high school in Elk Grove, Calif. ...Packers C/G Evan Dietrich-Smith is from Salinas, Calif. ...Packers CB Jarrett Bush is a native of Vacaville, Calif. ...Packers WR James Jones is from San Jose and attended San Jose State…Packers LB Clay Matthews’ grandfather, Clay Sr., played defensive line for the 49ers for four seasons (1950, 1953-55).

I'm guessing all of them are better people than the homophobic troll...scratch that. I'm sure they are.

It should be easier than that...

Patrick said...

Alright Tim, here's my attempt at disguising my lack of football knowledge:

I told Tim earlier this week that I would explain why the Packers will defeat the 49ers this weekend. The 49ers beat the Packers in week 1. Since that time, the Pack has lost a bunch of players, most of whom have returned. The Niners had switched QB’s, which although it was a good move for them, won’t affect the score. No one questions that Rodgers is by far the better QB, but the real test is not Rodgers v. Kaepernick, but Rodgers v. the corners and the defensive front. Rogers wasn’t his normal self for the first few games. Against the 49ers his QBR was 93, as the season went on, he got much better (130+ against the Vikings). With the Packer wideouts and their much improved running game, I’ve no doubt the Packers offense will generate sufficient scoring to prevail…if the Packers defense can keep SF in check. That is a dicier proposition, but they certainly can do it. The Niners’ best weapon is Frank Gore, who has had a pedestrian season, although his game against the Packers was one of his three hundred yard games. Coupled with Kaepernick’s ability to run, the Packers need to play tough on the line, and not allow either guy to get to the corner. They did this well in game two against Adrian Peterson and the Vikings. Justin Smith is back, but he’s got 3 sacks this year and none against Rodgers in game one.
Either team can win. Neither team wants this to come down to kickers.
Short version: I think the Packers will win because I’m a homer.
