"There is now a live stream of bears gathering to eat salmon at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park."

Lovely! It's not dark yet in Alaska, so you can see the bears right now.

Yeah, this time of year it won't really be getting dark in (most of) Alaska for some time now.

Video format is not supported. I've seen other video of this. The salmon migration is on and they get skinnier as they go upstream. IF you want to catch one, you have to fish offshore from a boat. There is a great lodge on the Kenai peninsula near Whiskey Creek, about 40 miles above Homer. There you can get 60 pound salmon. They are still feeding. Once they start upstream, they stop feeding.

Amazing world we live in.

I heard some bears still eat with their hands and crap in the woods - hopefully in that order.

I once tried to simulate this feeding style by sitting in my Jacuzzi and having Hooters girls throw barbecue ribs at me. The only problem was the napkins. A napkin in a Jacuzzi is like a liberal anywhere.

You wouldn't think this was so lovely if you were a salmon. Spawning salmon have truly awful sex lives, far worse in many ways than us..I don't think bears are especially good at fishing. They just stand there with their mouths open and eventually a suicidal salmon (and who can blame them) jumps into it.

I can watch hillbillies on the history channel fishing for catfish the same way! I wonder if the shit in the woods like bears too. (obviously since I am a hill billy I know these answers, they are meant as philosophical starting points) Ever notice how cute and cuddly bears are until they're about to eat your kidney? Ever notice how cute and cuddly Hooters girls are, being eaten or not?(okay, close to the line there).

I thought "live stream" was some kind of enviro thing.

Damn, I'm a day late to this thread. The bears in the live stream are gone now. :(

Seeing brown bears in the wild is incredible. We saw some @ Denali. They have this calm air about them; that only a large beast, @ the top of the food chain, can have.

We spent a week camping there, about 20 years ago. It was an abolutely awesome experience. One of the best weeks of my life.
