It was a year ago today that Scott Walker announced the budget reform...

... that touched off the massive protests.

We stopped by the Capitol today... but not during a planned demonstration between 12 and 2. I talked to a cop who said there had been a few people there. Here's how it looked to us:

Note the bride posing in the arch at the top of the second photo. That has nothing to do with Scott Walker. It's just the usual wedding photography that happens all the time in the Capitol.

Isn't saying "no to the status quo" exactly what Walker did last year?

One of the challenges in Wisconsin right now seems to be getting to a status quo...

"Recalls are not enough"

That's what the one sign says. So what else do they want? Through their political rivals in jail?

Thank you for providing honest coverage, Meadhouse.

As I say, I hope there is an award somewhere for your efforts

And, yes, Madame, you were quite fetching when you told us of the Wonda in da Rotunda.

Exactly, Chip.

Say No to the Status Quo

Yeah, yeah, I like Walker too. Wait, maybe that isn't a pro Walker sign?

One year later we have no jobs and a budget deficit larger than last year that supposedly necessitated the "budget repair bill. Nice work WIGOP.

Let's see. The building looks its nicest when there's no humans about.

But what about tour buses full of people? Would that also "ruin the view?"

Seems there's a whole lot less of unrest in Madison these days. Why? Are the unions putting their money elsewhere?

Just because you don't see a whole lot of other people; doesn't mean they've converted, en masse, to the republican party.

This is why I heart Chip S.

Tim, and what is the Democrat plan? Please tell us what they will do that is better than what Governor Walker and the Republicans are doing.

Let's place a wager on longevity.

Scott Walker's governorship, or that sweet, young couple's marriage?

Now the facts. WI currently has unemployment lower than it's been since 2008. And we have all but eliminated the $3.6 Billion structural deficit that Walker inherited.

Tim, you are a moron.

I love coming here, its like an amuse bouche of rage before the meal of sorrow when Walker loses.

God help WI if the Dems actually win with Falk. She'd make Doyle look like an amateur in the structural deficit department and would put the state back in the Top 10 of the worst states to do business in.

Since you're so concerned about jobs (5.6 million people have left the work force since Obama was sworn in) and budget deficits (Obama: 4 straight years of $1 trillion +) you're voting against Obama, right?

Textbook deflection by Jay. "What about _________ ???? What a schmuck.

Walkeronomics:

State spends millions for 202 new jobs
Poorly drafted law, minimal oversight lead to huge returns for 3 out-of-state financial firms

You keep telling yourself that.

While of course pretending to care about jobs and deficits yet voting for Obama.

I love how Walker jets off to CPAC, after hiring two criminal defense lawyers to ward off an investigation that appears to be targeting him, gets a report from the fiscal bureau showing his budget is an absolute failure, and gets a standing O from conservatives. His answer? Steal mortgage settlement funds meant for homeowners to patch his failure. What a guy.

-The Milwaukee DA has said numerous times the investigation is NOT targeting Walker. But keep telling yourself that it is.

-Only an idiot like you would say that a budget that reduced a structural deficit from $3.6 billion to around $150 million in one budget cycle would call it a "failure".

-And Im sure you have similar criticism for Jim Doyle illegally raiding funds and using one-time stimulus money to patch his budgets.

You are just beyond retarded.

You're high man. The Milwaukee DA has never said one way or the other. His campaign was subpoenaed the day before the election last November. How many people in Wisconsin even know that I wonder.
