It's not funny.

I heard that Luc Besson is going to adapt this story, to give it a French twist.

Oh, it's a little funny.

Kinda like the Millet scandalof '86, when Wheat and Corn were in cahoots.

You're right --- it's not funny.

It's H-I-Larious.

Bearded ladies??

Intradenominational disputes are rarely funny.

This isn't just two women fighting over a brownie at a church social.

It is kinda funny.

It's not funny.

Sure it is.

It's not funny, until you made it funny, then, it's really funny.

Hair-larious. It sounds like fraternity hazing.

If you're a Python fan then you probably think its funny.

Cue the fish slapping video, one bad Mullet deserves another.

Of course its funny. Religion makes people do, say, and think funny things.

Splitters!

Not funny, it's barberous! Something must be seriously amish when such extra-follicular activities occur. Were any of the men who got clipped the victims of automatic weapons (electric clippers)? 'Cause I thought that wasn't allowed.

And by the way, it's spelled "Mullet", but pronounced "Moo-lay".

I still don't think you have to fear the Amish.

Then why am I laughing?

"It's not funny."

Hmm. I dunno.

I let you know... after I mull it over.

The headline is so Drudgean. Very good.

gerry said...

By the way, is this Amish terrorism?

Wince said...

I heard that after the attack, some of the Amish bought cheap toupees.

As they say, the cover-up is worse than the crime.

EDH is funny.

It's not funny in the same way that a piano falling on a Yorkshire terrier isn't funny.

It's funny and it's not, of course. It's hilarious that the guy's name is Mullet. Can't get away from that one.

What he was doing wasn't funny. There was more to it than the hair cutting. Yes, that's humiliating for the people it happens to, but it's not as if they believe that God is going to see it as their own disobedience. It's a community humiliation, which is bad, too, but hair grows back.

It is an assault, of course, and Mullet and his followers are criminal, no doubt.

But what might get missed is that Mullet is mad because the rest of the church presumes to see itself in authority over him. I'm quite certain that there is nothing in Amish theology that suggests a leader gets to have sex with his followers as a religious action. This is text book cultism and it's the reason for organized religion.

We forget that when we fuss over the failings of organized religion, but the point of it is accountability and a brake on utter crack-pots like Mullet (or Phelps.)

I think this Python skit may also apply.

In the Bible, there is a case of some ambassadors having their beards shaved and their robes cut short enough to show their buttocks as a way of not accepting their entreaties.
