What I saw on Google News.

Headline: With dismal approval polls, Obama hits the road.

Photo Caption: President Barack Obama departs the Oval Office of the White House on his way to Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, for golf August 13, 2011, in Washington, DC.

We are in good hands.

Standing on one leg, I guess ducks probably prefer just paddling along in the water. (Why don't these ducks have duck feet?)

I saw Obama's polls, today, at Drudge. He's at 39%. And, then I asked myself, gee, I wonder where Boehner's ratings were?

Is 39% so bad ... when every other opponent has jumped off the cliff?

Turtles all the way down.

AFLAC!

I hope Meade is well, and the AFLAC ducks are not there for him.

Titus,

What are the best yoga studios close to Middleton? I noticed the gyms (Harbor and Princeton Club) don't have yoga classes.

39% is really bad for Presidents. Congress types (especially Representatives) typically have much lower ratings, but only have to worry about their own district.

If Obama has to compare his poll numbers to Boehner, he's in trouble.

A hunter friend (that reminds me there is a duck breast in the freezer) has a decoys all over his home including a giant one about 4 feet long or so. It's amusing. I inquired. He said, "Oh, it's real. The ducks can see it from way high up and then they descend to the lake where they then see the normal size decoys, and the giant decoy doesn't even register as anything odd to them." And I'm all, "Ha ha ha, that's tricky. Ducks are stupid."

How well or poorly does Boehner poll in Ohio?

The giant decoy was a bit on Prairie Home Companion, the stupidity of midwestern duck hunters being the ultimate aim, long ago.

I just now saw Brian Morel's exam for Chemistry 201. It's quite funny.

Wasn't Dubya at about 34 when he left the White House?

As we've seen, the polls (we know this because of people in the blogosphere) have consistently highballed Little Zero (and, I suspect, Willie and lowballed Dubya). Wonder what the internal polling by the Demos shows? Axelrod and Plouffe must be going nuts.

Boehner's numbers nationally are irrelevant. All he has to worry about is his district and the Republican caucus in the House.

PS It's still raining up there?

Say it ain't so.

PPS Ditto, tg.

Gail,

Did you try to listen to Davis and Emmer this morning at the new station?

All those uncooked ducks. How cute!

Ducks aren't all they're quacked up to be.

@ edutcher,

It should be noted that it took six years for a relentlessly negative mainstream media drumbeat to knock Bush down into the 30s. Obama has done it less than half the time, even with the mainstream media at his back.

I wrote my comments about the Drudge headline on Obama dropping to 39% approval in yesterday's Rise of the Planet of the Apes post, since it was the latest one and there was no open-comment cafe. I referenced the lyrics to The Meat Purveyors' "The Look On Your Face," an anti-Bush song that pretty much fits Obama as well. Every time you see him in a picture lately, he looks like he just sucked on a lemon.

Ha ha, ducks are so stupid, falling for large decoys that seem attractive from far away without details, and when they decide to go for it they get zapped...

Substitute ducks with voters, and large decoy with Obama, and far away without details with vague promises of hope and change, and see if this property of small-brained creatures is still so funny.

Being the "new guy," I assume the "cafe" is for random thoughts? A. Barton Hinkle has an excellent article posted at Reason.com today; as if further evidence of the hypocrisy of the msm is needed. Well worth your time.

Gorgeous! I live near a wildlife sanctuary developed to protect an estuary. Lots of similar photo ops - waterfowl, water, reflections...

Did you alter the contrast at all or did you post this straight up, no editing?
