Those who are impotent and limp and gutless and they go on their anonymous - sources that are anonymous - and impotent, limp and gutless reporters take anonymous sources and cite them as being factual references

That's a rather incoherent sentence, but she does have the excuse of talking extemporaneously in front of a microphone.

Speaking off the cuff is an art for a politician, and I'm not sure I can think of a good practitioner at the moment.

There is a reason why the mainstream media ranks below used car salesmen and grave robbers in the estimation of the general public.

They never use the truth when can lie. They never search out a fact when they can make something up. They are self-satisfied failures in a dying profession.

They are the scum of the earth.

What a hoot.Sarah does not get mad, she gets even. That sure is different from John McCain's cringing fear of the very threat of MSM attack pieces until all he could do was suck up to the liberals. Sarah has Geo Patton's approach...Attack, Attack, and Attack. And she attacks with a charm and a love for her family (think of America as the family of the President) that is downright Momma Grizzlious. That ability to attack the media right back is what W lacked because as a white male W had to act like he would not be abusive like all white men are painted to be today.

John Stodder said...

She happens to be right. Whether you are for or against her politically, it is "impotent, limp and gutless" to denounce someone anonymously. In my little LA world, I'll never forget this passage in a profile of a guy I knew who worked in City Hall.

"He's not very impressive," said one source, who requested anonymity.

Now, I'm fine with anonymous comments being used in a story about organized crime, or political bribery, or something of national importance where the anomymous source is clearly a whistleblower who would be genuinely damaged by the fallout if their identity became known. But people who want to be free to denounce someone anonymously should not be enabled by the media. If someone talks shit about a public figure, motive for talking shit is part of the story. Reporters who were, um, less impotent, would come back to the source and say, "Fuck you, if you want to say all this stuff about this person, I'm putting your name on it, or else I'm not using it. I am under no obligation to shield you from the shame you deserve for thinking you can use me to settle your scores."

This is a bipartisan view, by the way. I would say the same thing about pussies attacking Obama under a cloak of anonymity.

Spiro Agnew had a far better team of speechwriters led by William Safire - than Caribou Barbie has managed.

Palin sometimes comes off as Wasilla trailer park trash, same with certain members of her family.

McCain "gifted" America with her. She now functions as a totem and Goddess Figure to the Religious Right and older white conservative males.
She won't go anywhere in politics - or every Republican should hope she just stays in a glorified Joe the Plumber role. (Albeit far better-looking and with big tits).

McCain's present to America is making a mint yabbering her schtick to the adoring yokels. Her daughter is becoming a reality TV star. 1st dude is working on a book on how to be a manly man.

A bored and depressed and economically scared America needs a new Spiro Agnew.

Synova said...

Impotent has other meanings and is commonly used in other contents than sexual disfuction. Also, limp. Flaccid could be saved for next time. Gutless is gutless.

Now, I do think that she decided on the list ahead of time, impotent, limp and gutless, which is why she repeated it. I think she was aware of the sexual connotations and insult and it was intended... but completely deniable. Just like her implication that that reporter who moved in next door was a sexual pervert but in a way that was clearly explainable as a mother's protective reaction to the situation without an actual accusation because he *might* not be, after all.

This might upset certain people's world views, but Palin is not at all bad with words.

Is she *mean*? I don't think so. I sometimes think that Obama is mean because his humor is mean. Being mean in order to be funny really bugs me bad. But is it mean for Palin to be aggressive and lay into the opposition? Is she not acting with sufficient deferral or humility? Is that the problem?

Synova said...

RV, any time I've seen a list of Palin lies or listened to HD or someone say how she's such a big liar, it's always a case of ridiculous nit-picking or that the simplified version of events doesn't include all of the nuances of the whole business. A sound bite is supposed to be all encompassing? And this standard is applied to who besides Palin?

In other words, the accusations themselves are lies because they are inherently dishonest.

We aren't your research dogs. We aren't your librarians. We have better things to do than to "google" for information that YOU brought up.

=====================
As bad as Obama has been, back in 2008 the case presented by McCain and Obama showed McCain a guaranteed failure. Amnesty for illegals, close Gitmo, don't have a single idea on the economy but starting a 3rd major war with Iran and the ensuing Depression - was a grand idea!!
Compared to that - Obama was the default cross your fingers and hope for the best sort of case.

The other reason I said people should seriously consider Obama is that McCain had a long history of treachery in undercutting and weakening the Republican Party by giving the Dems a fig leaf of cover on issue after issue. A McCain Presidency would guarantee a lop-sided Democrat-controlled Congress for 4-8 years.
With Obama - the country will snap back faster. The Liberal and progressive Jewish Dem Leadership of Congress can only do two years of substantive damage under the failed last years of Dubya and 2 more under Obama.

My second reason for voting Obama is that if he wasn't as good a leader as he was a campaigner, if he was going to the Left instead of being a centrist - the Democrats OWNED IT ALL. And the angry public, without John McCain having the Democrats back and calling them "My friends! My friends!" and blabbering about noble bipartisanship he achieved - would toss the bums out in a bigger way than they expelled the Bushie cronies.

MadisonMan,

"That's a rather incoherent sentence, but she does have the excuse of talking extemporaneously in front of a microphone."

From Victor Davis Hanson:

He mangled his words. A liberal industry grew up around both “nuclar” and its sometimes corrective “nucular.” He strutted and talked Nascarese-like “bring ‘em on.” Much of this was excessive, but we knew at least Bush meant it. We got worried when he extemporaneously expounded for long riffs about freedom at press conferences, as his eyes rolled and he drifted from topic to topic. He put his arm on Angela Merkel and cried out “Yo Blair.” The media told us he was a yokel; we might add: albeit an authentic one who could duck properly when under shoe attack.

But Obama? He cannot really speak off the teleprompter without pauses, repetitions, and constant self-referencing (as in “me,” “I,” “my,” etc.). He is stiff and not comfortable with himself off the court or golf course. Bush made decisions and stuck by them; Obama the professor offers a perennial “on the one hand”/”on the other hand” mish-mash and a sorta, kinda, almost answer. Americans would prefer to be in a foxhole with George Bush, who would swagger and announce as decider-in-chief at H-hour, “OK, pard, we’re going over the top together on this one.” They wouldn’t want to be with Obama, who would stutter and give a long-drawn out exegesis why race and class had condemned us to such an unfair predicament, whose only solution is to go into a fetal position and condemn “them” who did this awful thing to us.

I'll take any of these "incoherent" patriots, over the alternative, any day.

No, Cedarford. It's just that the criticism is ridiculous most of the time. I'll accept opinions and criticism of her... but what is "she mostly lies about everything?" It's not a criticism, it's spin. And you come with this thing about how McCain foisted her on the US when many people knew who she was and saw her as a political up-and-comer. McCain didn't "foist" her on us, he likely destroyed her career (granted, of course, he can't be blamed for her not saying "no".) The emotionalizing about how she's a quitter and somehow should have stayed governor or not tried to make quitting sound better than it was, strikes me as delusional at best as it imagines different facts than the real ones. Any "she should have stuck it out" needs to include some mention of just how difficult that would have been, how costly, and how destructive "but still the better choice", but that's not the "criticsm" that the "goddess of the right" is subjected to. No, it's more on the order of "she quit to write a book and get rich."

Criticize all you or anyone else likes, but no one gets their own facts or own history to go with those criticisms.

Joe after you do the Google search then you have to shift through all the links and try and determine who wrote the material, is their an author named, and then check out the author to determine if they are writing in an area of expertise etc... at least that, in part, is what we teach in introductory courses at UW-Madison, which I admit of late has lost ranking. Here is a common one about the bridge to nowhere cited my many including Allen Roland: PALIN:
Palnin "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere."

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere."

"Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation."

Curious why it's framed that way.

Why not... she requested more special federal funding than her predecessor, or any other way to put that in the correct context of what she did or didn't change once she was elected governor?

This is generally spin.

As governor, she *did* sell the gubernatorial jet. Spin? She got accused of filing the travel costs between Wasilla and Juneau incorrectly and ending with the taxpayers paying for her kids' travel when mom moved house for the legislative season. It doesn't matter at all how her spending compared to the previous governor or how much she reduced her personal expenses compared to his. What are the chances that a reimbursement for travel that included her children would be even a drip in a puddle compared to maintaining a jet aircraft? Did the previous governor ever fly his family? Or did they fly commercial and coach on his personal dime?

This is what I mean by outright dishonesty. And when you're coming on board claiming someone lies "all the time about everything" you can't afford dishonesty.

Joe said...

Well we regional university grad's have some language skills...

Sadly you world class intellects seem to lack particularly spectacular argumentation skills.

You make claims, expect US to do your work, and then whip out your "evidence" of lies...that she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere AFTER it was unpopular...that ain't a LIE, is it? And the rest of your evidence, she opposed wasteful spending and proposed earmark reform...ok that was a LIE why?

So, sorry you may be quite familiar with catamites and Environmental Engineering, but the basics of argumentation, not so much....

Stick around, don't follow HDHouse's lead and you'lll learn.

I suppose that what I'm saying RV, is that we all know that Alaska gets more federal funds per capita than any other state. (It also has an obscene percentage of total real estate held hostage by the feds, far far more than any other state, so I'm uncertain that I think that's unfair.)

We all know that Alaska gets more federal funds per capita than anyone else. So if you want to impress us with her dishonesty, you have to say something more than what we all know. You have to tell us how she compared, as governor, to previous ones. How did she actually perform in the area of fiscal responsibility?

"I have read a lot of MSM slime over the years, but never, ever have I felt subjected to a more jealous, petty, sophomoric, disturbed piece of ragslime than I do after reading this latest on Sarah Palin. Gross left nothing alone. He attacked her beauty, intelligence, marriage, parents, friends, family, children, ability, sincerity, honesty, faith, state, husband, home, shoes, speeches, pastor, book, job, cooking, hunting skills, supporters, church, weight, undergarments… the list goes on. I honestly cannot think of anything about her that he did not attack."

Almost all, apparently, utilizing anonymous sources. Go figure.

Synova said...

RV, Many governors get what they can get, money-wise, and Senators and Congress put special funding, ear-marks, in bills and who really says no?

But it's self-interest for a governor, any governor, to try to avoid having her hands tied as to how funds may be spent. Any governor would rather have the discretion to allocate funds where she wanted them.

So, also, you ought to show that Palin was not requesting funds where she thought they ought to go but rather in response to special interests, that she was not an improvement over her predecessor's policies.

What are the chances that a reimbursement for travel that included her children would be even a drip in a puddle compared to maintaining a jet aircraft? Did the previous governor ever fly his family? And maybe we should be comparing her spending on such things to the spending by Congress on themselves. On how many of them skirt, or even break, both federal laws and Congressional rules as to who pays for what, and when. What is humorous is that these ethics charges are invariably brought only against Republicans, and are almost entirely dismissed as groundless (I seem to remember that Gingrich plead out on one out of more than a hundred complaints).

Everyone remembers those expensive clothes that Gov. Palin wore during the campaign (and which were ultimately given to charity), but why was she the only woman attacked like that? Did anyone ask whether Michelle Obama had paid for every dress that she wore during the campaign (she sure doesn't these days)? And, to the extent she did, where did that money come from? From her husband's salary as a Senator? Or from her salary with the hospital that was nearly twice as much as his for being the wife of a Senator? Or the Bidens who went into politics poor, and are now relatively well off as a result of all the political money that has flowed their way due to his political power. Somehow the type of political graft and corruption that the Obamas and Bidens routinely participated in is acceptable, but wearing clothes and then donating them to charity is somehow more corrupt than Obama allowing his wife to take bribes for him (but then, how about Hillary in the Rose Law Firm while her husband was governor).

I am fucking outraged. Someone call Keith Olbermann.

Synova said...

Politicians generally don't get called on it unless it's something as silly as "I created the internet". But Gore actually did do something or other to implement mil.net or something, IIRC and I probably don't, and that was in fact a vital step laid in the foundations of what is the internet today. He was trying to say he was visionary on technical things and he stretched it until it snapped because no one for a moment bought the notion that *he* was responsible, even if they might have accepted that he was involved. It was an easy joke to continue to make, and it made him look silly.

The sorts of things that Palin has said don't even approach that, but like that they are generally not even exaggerations but merely simplifications. Everything has to be short and sweet in a speech and that means most of it all gets left out.

But what happens when it is Palin is that... she's strong-arming her "employees" to abide by her budget, and she finds out that one of them has been making promises of a *fiscal* nature contrary to her direction as his *boss* and rather than fire him she offers a lateral transfer to a position where he can't make fiscal promises on the side and... what is the spin? The spin is that she's vindictive and out to get him, innocent that he is.

OH MY DOG.

Reporters and comedians no longer compete for Pulitzers and Emmys. The highest validation of their art is a tweet insult from Palin. It's the latter day equivalent of being on Nixon's enemies' list. If you can dig up some scurrilous fact about the time she didn't shower after the game, or make some really lewd joke about one of her kids, or do anything at all to attract her visible ire, then your reputation is made. Her ire becomes the story, and the story goes on for another two weeks. There's deep analysis of why Palin's response is so inappropriate, shows why she is unfit for higher office, why this response reveals why she is a threat to our democracy, etc. etc. Thank God, we have men like David Letterman as arbiter of what's right and decent in American values and keeping us informed of Sarah's deficiencies in these regards......Palin is pretty far down on my choices for President--although, of course, she ranks higher than Obama and Biden. I don't think she's any kind of goddess. But she is patently a sympathetic, likeable, woman whose drive and political skills have taken her from a kitchen in Wassilla to the nation's center stage in a few years. When our elites go to such absurd lengths to devalue her, they mostly reveal their own lack of perspacity.

Palin:“There was no abuse of authority at all in trying to get Officer Wooten fired."
The RecordFor the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.

The report, which was released by Alaska lawmakers Friday, examined whether Palin abused the powers of her office by exerting pressure to have her ex-brother-in-law, an Alaska State Trooper engaged in a bitter divorce and child custody fight with her sister, fired. After the state's public safety commissioner Walter Monegan rebuffed pressure to fire him, Monegan was fired by Palin.

The report affirmed that, as governor, she had the constitutional right to hire and fire at will, and therefore her termination of Monegan was lawful.

However, the report found that Palin, her husband Todd, and her subordinates used pressure and intimidation to try to force the firing of Michael Wooten, beginning before her swearing-in ceremony took place, and therefore broke the law.

Not even the thing with Wooten is going to play badly. For one thing, people would expect a private citizen to try to get someone fired in that situation. The feeling of helplessness over dealing with abusive authority and the desire to protect your family *resonate*.

And look... she obviously didn't bring the power of her office to bear, did she. No one who doesn't already hate her is going to look at that as an example of abuse of power since she didn't actually get him fired, they are going to see it as an example of restraint. She did what anyone would do, but she was just about as effective as anyone, any normal citizen, would be. Therefore... no abuse of power since she never brought it to bear.

I can say without hyperbole, that here in New Mexico a good percentage of the population would expect Officer Wooten to simply disappear. We're a land of enchantment... as well as unexplained and uninvestigated attempted murders of political operatives, and mesa dump sites full of police informers and prostitutes. I think that most people think that the mass graves on the mesa are due to those people being found out and killed by the criminals, but there are not a few people who are convinced that the site was a dump site for the cops themselves.

*That* is the level of trust in the real world. That is the expectation of the power available to powerful people.

Even an economic illiterate like AlphaLiberal should know that small business owners almost always have a Subchapter S or LLC. Their income is taxed on their personal returns using the personal income tax rate. Thus their income will rise above the $200,000 magic threshold that Obama likes to lie about.

Now this income might really just be a paper profit, i.e.: they don’t have the cash because they plowed the money back into the business. That would allow them to hire more people or to increase their inventory or do other things to expand and grow. By imposing a confiscatory tax burden on these small businesses, they are doing even more damage to an already tottering economy.

The people this will impact are not the guys on Wall St who get big bonuses and inflated compensation packages. Their income is all W-2 and stock options. It will impact the small family business in a very serious way. Between Federal, State, City and Social Security taxes, most taxpayers in New York City are approaching a 60% effective tax rate if you earn more than $150,000And of course that doesn’t count eal estate tax or sin taxes or the other little nit- picky shit they tack on when they think you are not looking.

That’s not Donald Trump. That’s a cop and his wife a nurse. A bus driver and a school teacher. And the small business man with a working spouse. The people that Obama and the Democrats lie about when they say they want to help the middle class. But they don’t. They want to redistribute the income to make it fair.

Tax and spend. Tax and spend. Tax and Spend. Tax and Spend. Tax and Spend. Tax and Spend. Tax and Spend. Tax and Spend

Hickel of Alaska, who was elected as a candidate of a party that advocated seceding from the union, filed a lawsuit against the Federal Government today, charging that the United States has violated the terms of statehood and deprived the state of its ability to raise revenue.

The $29 billion suit, which Alaska officials say is the largest ever filed by a state against the Government, is the loudest broadside yet in Mr. Hickel's continuing battle with the Federal Government. In the last year, he has stepped up his criticism, accusing the Government of treating Alaska, the nation's biggest state, like a distant colony.
"

The article goes on to state that Hickel was also the second governor of Alaska. Statehood is a living memory for a great number of Alaskans, and who can avoid understanding that the federal government controls and hamstrings economic development while piss and moaners like AL and others fuss about Alaska's unfair share of federal funds and think it's a zinger to point out Todd's past affiliation with anti-fed secessionists... presumably much like the one who was elected and served as governor in 1993. So what is the solution?
Well they can limit the tax on small business income. Much like they do on capital gains. Tax it at a maximum of let’s say 25%. The government gets it’s bite but the entrepreneur can still have a chance to grow and create jobs.
At one time there was no limit on the tax rate on earned compensation. So there was a effective rate of up to 70% or 80% on highly compensated individuals.

John Wayne once had a memorable diatribe on how it wasn’t worth working to earn more money when the government would get 80% of it. So he turned down many offers to make great movies. I mean we missed out on North to Alaska Two, Return of the War Wagon and Hatari2-This time it is Personal.

What happened is they put a limit of a maximum of 50% rate on earned income. Thus limiting the tax on earnings which would encourage people to earn more because they can keep more. Otherwise you are just working for the government. At a certain point it is not worth it.

They can do the same thing with small business income. If they really meant what they say. But they don't. Small business is just here to be fleeced to pay for more government programs and public employees and their union benefits.

@Synova

AL evoked a modified Godwin's when he cited Johnson and thusly lost the thread.

Speaking of grossly dishonest journalist hackery.

3. I LOVE Sarah Palin. i don't hate her at all. she is the best thing to happen to the democratic party since, gosh, Bush or eye of the Newt. NO NO NO. I want her center stage and I enjoy every laugh filled minute that she provides.

That's because you believe that Palin is the caricature the left has made of her. You think she really did say she could see Russia from her house. You believe she is identical to Tina Fey's lampooning of her.

The thing is though...she's not. So be careful what you wish for... you just might get it. Then the laugh will be on you.

I think it is hilarious how upset the lefties get about Palin. Just look at the energy they have put into atacj=king her on this thread.

She drives them nuts. Or, I guess I should say she drives them nuttier.

But the lefties get absolutely unhinged about her. It is actually quite amusing.

roesch-voltaire What I want to reveal is you got a whole lot of NOTHING, and like to be:
1) Lazy; and
2) Superior to those who catch you in your lazy argumentation.

Your BEST response to my taunts would have been to have produced some OUTRIGHT LIES, you kow like the ones I've pointed out, without the benefit of Google, from the current administration. Instead you just wallow around in a feeble attempt to shift blame, make jokes, whatever.

Anyway, find some of those lies, would you? I'll see what Google can produce on roesch-voltaire and other subjects.
