When did liberals start hating Arianna Huffington?

Hmm. This is surprising. She's up 12 in the ranking of "Human Garbage"? What's up with that? I thought she was some kind of liberal queen. Now, she's on a list with me.

I guess she turned off the comments gloating over someone's death/illness/bereavement/misfortune once too often.

Either that, or she wasn't hopey (as opposed to Hopi) enough.

PS It would be interesting to see how snarky some of these people who are so eager to defame anybody who disagrees with them if they had to do it to the individual person's face.

WV "barfula" (no kidding) The moron who calls people "Human Garbage".

Actually, a lot of conservatives- you know the treasonous, un-American, unpatriotic, opposition- are using Huffpo as a source now. Some are even- shades of blasphemy- writing there.

Also Chuck Todd, who is apparently the chief White House correspondent for NBC News. Has NBC been questioning the innate goodness of The One? If so, I must've missed it.

Maggie Gallagher and Katey Jo Lopez, that is just wrong? They are beautiful pro family conservatives. I blame fags on this poll. Maggie is gorgeous and Katey Jo just needs to find a good man and everything will be alright.

Titus said...

What I want to know is why there isn't some nice young patriotic republic around to sweep katey Jo off her feet/ There is something wrong with that picture. She is certainly surrounded by many republican bachelors. What is wrong with that picture?

You do not belong on any list with that woman. She is one of those people who will say absolutely anything except "I'm sorry".

Going back to her roots, again.

She doesn't create content so much as just grab it from other sites, so a lot of liberal bloggers see her as a Pac-man creature. I read a couple of people who post there - Harry Shearer mainly - but otherwise, I end up there when someone links to it. My gut feeling is that it's the content snatching that irritates some. But +12? I don't know what that's about. Of course, I didn't know about that list at all, and don't know what goes into compiling it.

Well, never mind me. I dunno.

PoHuff is becoming known as a source of pseudoscience, just as it's owner is becoming known as a cultist. Between those gruesome murders (there's been more than one by members of her staff - who all have to undergo her guru's "training") and other nonsense connected to her, I'm not surprised by this.

Ann's starting to lean to the right, which - like being a black conservative - is a major no-no:

Watch your back, kid.

Isn't Feinstein conservative enough?

Her flipflopping from R to D did not fool me.

I agree with one of the commenters over there that Breitbart should be up close to the top. He has been more successful than pretty much anyone in getting the left to show that they are venal, corrupt, silly, and often pretty dumb.

I do find it humorous that Ann is on the list. She is much too nice to be on that list.

I noticed the other day that. The Pandagonians discovered Althouse's post on Magic-Marker-handcuffs girl, and were exercised at what they thought it said.

These people are acting out like a high school clique trying to keep people in line by making examples of dissenters with scathing vitriol. They want to make them pay a price. They attack with language as a substitute for other punishment which they would use if they could get away with it. Despicable.

That site Instaputz has the look-and-feel of Glenn Reynold's site.

I thought of doing something like that a few years ago... but with PORN.

The domain was INSTAPORNO.COM.

Instead of a transmitting radio tower like on Glenn's site, I was going to use a giant phallus graphic.

But it turned out to be too much work for too little irony. I let the domain expire.

John Lynch's allusion to Icarus reminded me of the time I heard Arianna Huffington speak in Madison before a liberal audience. She was still a Republican, and when it became clear that her listeners were not receptive to her message, she sweepingly dismissed the skepticism by observing, "Angels can fly because they're light."

She flies light and close to the heat, fleeing when the fire singes and fanning the flames when the wind blows her way. Perhaps they've figured out that she won't stay in one place.

Peter V. Bella said...

You do not understand the liberal mindset. Liberals hate everyone. They just tolerate them until they are no longer useful.

It has to do with their natural tendency to be self loathing. There philosophy is if you can't hate your self, how can you be expected to hate anyone else?

Revenant said...

It was formed specifically to complain about Glenn Reynolds.

Who, oddly enough, didn't make the top ten on the index. Apparently the author hates Ann more than a man he devoted his blog to hating. Yikes!

Before her husband died she was very much an outspoken conservative pundit and a target of attacks from the left. I lived in the UK through the 1990s and she was one of the favorite subjects for redicule among the British talking heads on the left.

As I see her, she is neither leftwing, nor rightwing. She is in her own wing -a n opportunist and attention junkie.

She was (mis)quoting G.K. Chesterton. The only liberal I know who does that is Garry Wills, whose first book was a bio of Chesterton.

Titus is channeling his inner Andrew Sullivan--milky loads, misogyny, and all.

God bless Maggie Gallagher.

None of them are strong enough.

I remember seeing Arianna for the first time speaking at CPAC in the early 90's [on CSPAN]. She had brought her own little cheering section of women to clap for her. Kinda creepy.

Who, but a hater, would have a list like that? (Liberals don't have a monopoly on hate: but they don't always act like they have turned off their stupid switches.) They need to knock off drinking the haterade. Hasn't the teaching staff at that middle school been trained on how to deal with bullies? President Obama wants a more respectful dialogue. Yes, we can.

And what happened to all the money Althouse paid those PR people? Better pay them more and hope they change you to a better list. (You'll be wanting some of that hopey changey stuff.) We can tell a lot about people by the company they keep.

And why does the blank for comments think "Althouse" is a misspelled word?

And Paddy, which roots would those be? These - the feminist bashing roots of Miss Arianna Stassinopoulos, maybe?

This brouhaha reminds me of the remark from the Hollywood gossip who claimed "I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin."

There's no one leftists resent more than someone they once celebrated as an independent thinker who stays independent.

"There's no one leftists resent more than someone they once celebrated as an independent thinker who stays independent."

I suspect that progressives resent, even more, a one woman, personal PR machine who reigns supreme as the internet news media darling.

In short, the Huffington Post is to the New York Times as Barrack Obama is to George Bush.

SO much hope; so little change.

Arianna wrote well and interestingly early on.
Michael Huffington announced he was gay, and I realized he'd have to have been born that way. He couldn't have chosen it.
Then came California's recall election. It raised her hackles, she dropped her facade and unsheathed her talons.
Clearly, she had earlier turned Michael.
She has since embraced liberalism, but now has stared into the abyss and chosen not to leap. It will be hard for her to turn.
She's an American woman; crazier than a dumpsterload of Glenn Becks, hotter than the core at Chernobyl.
What's not to love?

Peter said...

It's amzing how lefties demand that people not only agree with them most of the time but demand utter and absolute fealty.
Ms. Althouse voted for Obama. Then when Obama's campaign turned out to be a lie and he reverted back to what he'd been all his life (surprise, surprise) she complained. This put her on the "that's a horrible right wing enemy" list.

Huffington get's the same. No matter how the left's latest lord and master twist and turns, utter fealty is required. Althouse, Huffington and anyone else straying should watch that they don't get the Leon Trotsky Ice Axe through the skull treatment.

Isn't it already enough alignment that Eve Ensler is a contributor to to the Huff Post?

Funny, I've been thinking of starting a, People Who are Excrement blog for lefties for over a year now.

The only name on that list I agree with is K-sLow. She's a retard, but at least she's our retard, I guess.

You don't deserve to be in the top ten there, Outhouse. A top 50 maybe, but not a top ten. LOL!

"who stays independent."

Except she doesn't stay independent. She is highly partisan, but shifts her partisan alliances when trends change.

She was a conservative when it seemed there was a rise of conservative leadership in the 90s. She became a voice for progressive voices to gather under Bush.

A true independent keeps a steady perspective no matter the political climate, no matter which side seems to have the zeitgeist.

I had the misfortune of Arianna Huffington 'debate' Victor Davis Hanson over the Iraq War. She blurted out snarky little talking points that weren't connected in any sensible way. Meanwhile VDH was trying to do the standard college debate format.

I honestly felt embarrassed for her - just goes to prove that money doesn't buy brains.
