John Amato way overestimates our awe of Duran Duran.

So this is the guy who made his way in the blogging world at Crooks and Liars by embedding video clips chosen to make various individuals look foolish? Ah, the poetry!

Something about adding that video to "The Sandwich Manifesto" made me want to embed this clip of John.

(1) Sudafed is a hell of a drug.

(2) John Amato is to be complimented for being so forthcoming on the internet letting us all hear his standard closing-time-pick-up-drunk-chicks patter.

(3) Bleh!

Is this the longest intro into a BHTV segment ever?

Seriously.

I'm tempted to e-mail Bob Wright and ask. While I can't say I've listened to/watched every episode, I certainly have "consumed" hundreds--including a whopping 16 early last week while driving across country--and I don't think I've heard an introduction of more than a sentence or two. Usually, it's just "hi, I'm ..." and, boom, here we go, unless a veteran asks a question or two of a newbie. And even then ... .

Well, he's certainly a successful blogger, so I guess the ... self-confidence ... has served him well.

Anyway, I wonder if this would make K-Lo's head explode? Lord knows she's retained her '80s youthful crush on Duran Duran, and I can't imagine she's a fan of Crooks and Liars, much less John Amato.

Tee hee. Visions dance in my head ... .

Conn's face is priceless. Regardless of what he said, his expression is so perfectly "reporter" I'm now chuckling, pretty much uncontrollably. I had a couple of a colleagues who specialized in that technique (not that HE'S using a technique; I can't say) for getting people to run on and on until they let something slip or made an ass of themselves.

My interest in Conn has ratcheted upward. Amato, not so much.

In any case, this is one episode I'll watch, I think, out of fairness, certainly, but also--I confess--on account of the potential for wicked humor, a fine and useful thing early in the week.

The guy on the left is too old to be styling his hair like that.

OK, I just watched it. That guy is just about the biggest blowhard douchebag ever. I have never seen an adult shamelessly name drop like that in a long, long time. He's the male Kathie Lee Gifford!

Yes! About half way through this clip I became transfixed on Conn's face waiting for it to crack and go into full eyes-rolling-back-into-his-head mode.

Well, kinda. He overestimates my awe of post mid-1990s Duran Duran. If he had been working for/with them in the early 1980s at their height? THEN I would be in awe of him - the excess groupie action back then would have made him the equivalent of Ron Jeremy. By 1995? Not so much....

Wow. That was nearly interesting.

Hello, I'm John Amato from (self-absorbed) Crooks and Liars.

I got all the way through 50% of it. I presume the rest went nowhere.

Oh, yeah? Well my brother toured with The Church in the late 80's and then toured with Gilby Clarke, the guy who replace Izzy Stratton when he left Guns And Roses" and then toured with Tripping Daisys when they were opening up for Def Leapord who he mostly hung out with ("they were a great bunch of guys") and then he got to party with Slash in LA for 1995 New Years Eve and he invited me but I didn't go because I don't like hanging out with drunken sycophant musicians. But Yeah, I hang out with my brother, he's a great guy...

All he needs now is a hot chick and his fame is secured.
