"After his week of immigration-based Hispandering, Obama didn't even mention those issues (or Latinos) in his laundry-listish Election Night speech."

Mickey Kaus seems pleased that Obama's tactics didn't work too well in California.

Mickey's pleased? How displeased is he with the Hispandering that Hillary has been doing since 1992? And where is the evidence of this displeasure?

Occam's Razor: If it looks like simple pnadering, it most likely is.

Pandering to the electorate deJour is the reason that I dislike Rommey and Obama above all things.

The local NPR station, KPCC, had a long discussion last evening about this topic. They were noting how such pandering consistently helped state politicians and generally helped national politicians. Only, it made absolutely no dent for Obama. Hispanics and Asians went disproportionately to Hillary. The NPR commentators said that this is because those groups tend towards the establishment candidates, and Hillary is considered the most well known, and seemingly the party choice. The commentator, a Latino political strategist, made the weird comment that many in the community were still learning how to pronounce Obama's name.

What they completely ignored, though not surprisingly, is the possibility of racism. Obama, though a minority, is not going to get the vote of every minority, sometimes for very base reasons that no one wants to acknowledge.

Evita shows that Spanish speakers believe voting for the ex-President's wife will bring back all the good times of the husband's Presidency. This worked in the Philippines, as well, with Mrs. Marcos.

Yeah no shock there that NPR staff looked past the chance that DEM voters had racial prejudice.

Obama told them they didn't look like they just stepped off the Mayflower.
