Your reward: playing Scrabble with Martha Stewart.

Did you watch Martha's "Apprentice" last night?

My advice to anyone stuck playing Scrabble with people who are into playing Scrabble: Just put your words out fast. Don't even try to win. They want to win. Slowing the game down in the hope of impressing them with your intelligence? Not a good strategy -- as Martha's smirking at Dawna's delaying telegraphed.

In my experience, my opponent winds up getting really into it while I'm left cursing at my lack of consonants.

I agree. Marcela was finished at least two weeks ago. The only reason she stuck around last time was because Jim gave her that little pep talk.

Martha probably played Scrabble 24/7 in the joint- totally unfair contest- I declare shenanigans.

I missed the episode!! Did she write the termination letter with Scrabble tiles?

Of all the episodes I've seen, I think last night's made Martha look the least robotic. She actually seemed charming with her grasp of Scrabble rules and her playful scolding of Jim's "cute" comment.

Is Jim being revealed as more stupid -- as opposed to evil -- as time goes on?

why waste your time with that!!!

Thanks for the Apprentice blogging, Ann.

I'm watching the Martha Stewart version solely to satisfy my obsessive/compulsive er, compulsion; I've started this darn thing and by golly I'm gonna finish it. But there's no fire here. I was all hepped up for it at the beginning of the season but it's clear Donald does this kind of thing best. Though I'd like to see Jim get what he deserves - I have not doubt he WON'T be chosen as Martha's Apprentice - I've been teased to long now about his demise to think he'll get a spectacular comeuppance. No, I'm afraid he'll go not with a bang but with a whimper.

Yawn.

It looks as though Martha may be as tired of her own show as I am!

(Could someone kindly tell me how to create a hyperlink using the comments editor? I've tried using Word to create the post and hyperlink, then cutting and pasting, but it doesn't work. Sorry to be such a doofus.)

It's no fun playing Scrabble with people who aren't in to it. If you're working hard to find clever uses for iiieeoj and they're putting down "no" and "bee", noone's having a good time.

'ut' is a word, in fact. 'usc' isn't.

Pete: What an awesome interview! I really like that she was completely candid rather than going for Trump's "This is the biggest, bestest, yoogest, most expensive, prettiest season EVER!" approach.

I noticed in the comments under the interview, there were people grumbling about how egotistical she was. You don't become a billionaire through strategic self-effacement, as far as I know.

I love Scrabble. I play with a certain, how do you say...vicious killing instinct? Brutal competitive vigor?

Anytime I am contrary in ordinary life, my wife says I am "in a Scrabble mood".

My take on it is that if you aren't crying, I ain't trying.

So does anyone think that Dawna's incompetence with Scrabble bodes ill for her chances of being selected as Martha's apprentice? We know Jim is bound to get knocked out in next week's interview round: he's put his foot in his mouth too many times to be one of the last two finalists. Betheny may have more of a chance than I would have expected.
