"Meet Danny. He's a kid looking for a dad."

I love, love, love this faux trailer presenting the "The Shining" as a feel-good heatwarmer. (Via Marginal Revolution, via Geek Press.)

Wonderful... and that may be the only way I can convince my wife to sit through The Shining.

That said, I really think we need a law or regulation permanently outlawing the use of "Solsbury Hill" in film trailers going forward. Yes, I'm talking to you, Cameron Crowe.

If you check out the links for this at boingboing, there are also trailers for Titanic as a horror film, and West Side Story as a zombie film. (IMHO, the West Side Story one is the better of the two.)

I've never seen "The Shining". Seriously. But now I want to!

I love "The Shining." I find it one of the most rewatchable films, too.

Thank you so much for posting this! I read about this a few days ago somewhere else (the mind, it is blank...) and couldn't get the link to work, and then of course I couldn't find it again (that blank mind thing).

It really is excellent. And it makes me want to watch the real movie again!

I posted this last week at MY Vast Right WIng Conspiracy. I was making the point that this was just like how the MSM is portraying things like the War in Iraq. just take the real thing, and cut the story together so that it fits your purpose.
