Disappearing.

A blank page seems to have replaced my blog. Maybe a new post will cure things. I hope.

UPDATE: Well, the second time it worked. What the hell was that? That was a real damn-you-Blogger experience. I'm really trying to stand by Blogger and believe in the long run, it will be the best. I know if I went somewhere else, it wouldn't be perfect either. But, jeez, that was unnerving!

How very very strange. That exact thing happened to me last night. I could navigate anywhere, but when I tried to go to my blog, all I got was a blank page. Extremely unnerving, to say the least. I wonder whether it was something that happened to many of us?

I have no idea why that posted twice, but apologies.

Once you get your blog published it is safe. It is out there somewhere, it just might take a bit for Blogger to get it back up.

The problem I had was Blogger would error otu when I would try to publish a blog, I lost a fair amount of material to that bugaboo.

As I preface my complaints to them everytime I write, which is often. "I know Blogger is free but...." Something free ain't worth squat if it don't work.

For several weeks there was something afoul with Blogger almost everyday. I have a ray of hope however, it has been pretty error free for a time now, and they did start to respond to my emails, something that hadn't happened before.

Well, at least we get to see neo-neocon's photo three times.

Many smart people are switching to WordPress.

I've heard good things about PowerBlog, too, but I don't really want to switch web sites again either.

It seems to me that people who push new things downplay the problems. If I switch, it takes effort, and gradually I learn what the problems are, and then I'd be mad about all the trouble of the switch. This attitude is, I know, essence of conservatism. I own up to that.

Same thing happened to me today.

I also believe in Blogger being the best in the long run.

Sandy: I think the problems Blogger is having stem from it's very high volume. The service your using is nowhere near the same volume. The test would come if everyone switched. Do you seriously think Powerblogs would somehow be immune to the sorts of troubles Blogger is learning to deal with? Blogger is Google! Doesn't that bode well?

if you think blogger.com slow from a desktop or laptop computer, try logging on to it from a Palm handheld. I get a nap while submitting a comment.

There is good and bad in all the Blogging systems. I am on a joint blog, Texas Bloggers, powered by WordPress. A nice system but the amount of comment spam we get is far worse than the problems encountered occasionally with Blogger. I've heard of similar spam problems with Moveable Type. I'm with Ann, I'll stick with Blogger a while longer and hope they get it fixed.
